American loses clubs, costs golfer shot at U.S. Open qualifying

One would think that now that airlines have instituted checked baggage fees, which are never going to disappear, that pax should maybe be getting service for that extra fee they now have to pay fhat they didnt have to before (due to crazy high oil prices and all :) ) Like bags showing up. Checked bag fees have been added, but has baggage service improved?

Like crop duster mentioned, why is Fedex held to some high standard, but mediocrity and crap service is just accepted at pax airlines as "business as usual, crap happens"?

And the airlines wonder why so many in the flying public sympathize with the Dr Dao's of the world, when they see that situation and this one, as examples of "service"; and the airlines......in this case their own pilots.....just shrugging their shoulders, kicking the can down the road, and blaming the passenger for expecting anything for his money.

I don't think anyone is arguing that it's ok for bags to not show up. There's two issues being discussed, and I think we all agree on the first point, a checked bag ought to arrive where the passenger does.

The second issue what do you do if your bag doesn't arrive. If you have the chance of making the open and possibly moving on and getting a tour card do you just throw your hands in the air and say, "if it weren't for that damn AA, I'd be on the tour!" Maybe if you're Unlce Rico. Or do you do what you can to try compete anyways, even if your odds just went downhill.

Agreed, there are two different issues; I'm mainly adressing the former one where some of the sentiment is "what are you thinking, depending on our service to be done right?" Gotta look at it a bit from a flying public point of view in that having an expectation for ones bags to show up at the destination, especially now that theres an extra fee charged for it for bags that wasn't charged before, shouldnt be an unreasonable expectation.

I fully agree there are some dumbo pax out there, and we see them often in the news or in person who do stupid things and should get the rightful blame for it. But there does seem to be an aire of disgust towards pax in general by a number of airline personnel from pilots to cabin crew and others, which doesn't seem to be a healthy outlook for whats supposed to be a customer service entity.

You're a broke regional FO who got your dream chance at an interview with UAL/AA/DAL. They fly you in the evening before the interview, while deplaning you walk to the front and the FA has accidentally given your suit bag to a first class passenger who's nowhere to be found. You spent some decent coin on the suit and had it tailored for the interview. The local mall JC Penney closes at 8. Your credit card is maxed out and you have $130 in your checking account.

Discuss.

Pretend that I'm a pro golfer and post a twitter rant?

Go in the best clothes you have and explain your situation.

It'll show that you're calm, cool, collected, straight-forward, no excuses solid candidate instead of the "Dog Ate My Homework" types that are sadly multiplying.

Actually Twitter is a pretty good place to talk to talk to customer service and faster than actual phone calls. Dude posted 1 tweet and the rest were replies to AA replying to him. Get off your high horse. You act like he shouldn't complain at all.

Not like this dude has any followers. A teenage girl tweeting is more effective.
