I'm surprised more aircraft don't have the radios that will start beeping in your headset if the mic button is held down for more than 15 seconds. It's pretty handy in the 767. Might be 10 seconds, I don't remember.

Pretty sure the 145 has stuck mic protection. Likely why it turned off after a while without them noticing.

It shuts off automatically after a certain time frame, I think around 15 seconds. Plenty of time for them to stick their feet in their mouths on this one.
