You really have no idea what transpired to make that video happen, trust me.

I'm not so sure Han Solo does it for the PR...

He is a spokesman for the EAA Young Eagle Program...and there is a reason he is, and you and a lot of others aren't. Plus he is speaking in front of a nice branded wall. Although, you may be just as awesome a pilot, maybe even more so, not sure because I don't know you, he was made the spokesman for the very reason you brought up the Han Solo thing (although I have yet to watch all those movies to be honest, so I relate more to Indiana Jones). It is recognizable and other pilots whom they need to continue the program will see that. They will think, Harrison Ford flies with kids, I should too. At least EAA hopes so. So, although he might not specifically want PR, he is doing it because he believes in it, it makes him look good although he could certainly trim that beard thing. PR is a two way street when it comes to celebrities. They have a brand, and they have to protect it. They choose very carefully what causes they put their name to, and it is always strategic. That is what they have managers for.
My current employer may donate tons of money, hotel rooms and meeting space to a certain charity because yes, it touches our hearts and is a great cause. But, it also gets good press, business because other people support that charity and choose to do business over a competitor because of it, and creates a positive brand image for the hotel and the brand of hotel. Take an economics class and one of the first concepts you learn is that, "there ain't no such thing as a free lunch." It's really true.
You need some wine and a cat!
Works for me every time! But now I've eaten M&M's so my wine's not going to be very delicious.
That is a pretty random combination. Hope those weren't out of an honor bar!$10 M&M's taste worse than the $1 ones.

Shack. It really wasn't a PR stunt at all. Gotta remember @Avgirl, I'm the guy in the video.
You don't know what you're talking about.
Nonsense wine and chocolate go together like...cats and wine? Idk I had a few brewskis with our CP and ACP so I'm a little fuzzy. You need some wine and a cat!

Yeah, but it was great that it showed the local PHX folks. Instead of turning it into a big production and losing that charm. I wish the DL video would have shown the brainstorming about what to do for that kid. I bet it would have added a nice element to it.
I literally had landed in PHX from working an event in Madrid for marketing and my boss, of sorts, puts me on a conference call and says "Sorry, we need to send you to NY, watch this video and we'll send you some basic information the morning before you fly out in a couple days".
.

Sooooo...were you junior assigned into your day off?

Every time you see a camera, there's a plan to use the footage. The camera was a last minute thing like literally two days before the thing went down and a good month of this thing moving from a low boil to a raging brushfire.
When you film virtually anything, there are a lot of people involved. You're fitted for an on-person microphone, there is a boom mic or three, hell the sound crew alone is five people. Then there's the film few and their assistants. Set up, tear down. There's a of stuff that goes on.
Now if they were to film all of the lead-up to the big day when me, the producer and the NY camera crew and sound people showed up, that's a lot of people standing around some cubicle thinking, "Hmm, I'll just send him the jet from my desk. Yeaaaaaah, that's what I'll do" then you know it staged.

So I did laundry, packed my crap, flew to ATL and met with the director of social media with some information about what was going on and continued up to Albany then was limo'd literally to what seemed like a hotel in the middle of nowhere.
Everything was live, unscripted and a little awkward because, well, it was cine verité. No retakes, no clarifications, no voiceovers, it was about as real as it could get. The only thing we did twice was the 'hero walk' down the street.

Do you even have a flow? All she's saying if the kid wasn't on TV then delta wouldn't have made the video. Why can't you just accept that? You seem like a nice dude, but damn, the delta/derg circle jerk this place has become is nauseating.
Staaaaahp, just stop!
It's ok. Wait until you're in your 40's when not actually knowing something is blissful and not panic-worthy.
