Haven't picked up a news source with it yet (surprised with how many people are tweeting it), but it happened about 40 minutes ago.

Heard there was possibly a serious injury.

Saw the carcass earlier today after the fact.... It looked like a third of the right rear lower fuselage was entirely missing. Glad that no one was seriously hurt.

After reading the prelim info, sounds a LOT like the Air France Concorde fire and crash

These folks were lucky they were slow enough the reject.

TL:DR, tire punctured after hitting FOD, debris ruptured fuel tank substantially, causing a subsequent fire.

Heck, even a past V1 abort for something like that.....a plane that won't fly. Problem is, being unable to know what exactly is going on back there to make that call and thinking (logically) that it's something that can be taken airborne and handled, rather than something that's going to end up with you a smoking hole X miles past the runway end.

I aborted past V1, post MX shakedown flight. Since I insisted on using the longer of the two runways, instead of just following the 135 normalization of deviance and taxing to the closest runway the aircraft wasn't totaled. Or worse.

It's a tough call to make.

Only a matter of time, when not if, something like this......video, selfie, or similar.....is going to end up getting people killed.

Yeah. It's going to be those ones on the cell phones getting trampled by people like me who really have no desire to be trapped on a burning aluminum tube with a huge fuel source
