Alpine Air

Went to the interview and did ask many, many questions about the accidents. I found that the most recent one in Billings was due to the Chief Pilot(Person Flying) had a heart attack and fell into the yoke nosing the airplane over. He fell so slowly that the seat belt did not catch. The new chief pilot, Jeff, has since then turned this place around (I asked all the pilots I could see in Billings.) Mx, personnel, management have all changed and they are expanding into Puerto Rico! That's quite a ways from home but if they can do it, why not?

There was someone here on a previous "closed thread" who said their buddy would rather be unemployed than work for Alpine. He worked at Corporate Air, did he not? From what I understand, Corporate and Alpine have a competative feud going on. Corporate under-bid Alpine in Billings recently, but they couldn't supply the airplanes. 2 weeks later, the contract was given back to Alpine. This guy is probably bitter towards Alpine just due to the fact of being rivals.

After reading all the previous threads, I decided to go and see for myself. I was impressed with the outfit. The planes are old, but everything else seemed so new! If you have the chance to interview, and you think you can work late hours, go. Do some more research, but ask questions there. That only makes you look good to them as you care about your safety.

PM me if you are going to the interview or have any questions. I give some advice on sim prep.

I used to work an alpine air flight form GFK to BIS..the dude would fly thu almost anything it was sweet. What do they move around anyways? I heard it was mail for the USPS. Just curious

They do have a First Officer Training Program. But, I just touched on that with Jeff. I think if someone asked, it could be done. Alpine is hiring directly into PIC positions. If hired, you are not expected to be a SIC. They need reliable, qualified PIC's.

What are the mins? I'm sitting are 1525TT/175ME....

They had an ad on JSfirm.com and they posted 1500TT and 500ME. I sent in an application with only 1420TT, 460ME, 350 Turbine and Part 135 time. Got the job offer after interviewing. As everyone on here will say, "It never hurts to apply." If you're interested, give it a shot.

They still fly mostly USPS and UPS. The route in South Dakota flys only USPS though.

I might just do that thanks.

If thats alpine who does the FedEx's runs in the Caravan out of GFK? Back in college I remember waiting for the 6 or so them to take off every morning at 7AM sharp in the still dark -30 below snow covered mornings!

No they have a 1900 on the ramp north of the FBO which name escapes me. Its pretty decent with the 6 month training contract. Good way to get directly in the 1900, do your time and hard work, and move on. Expect a ###### schedule 5/6 days a week but hell its PIC turbine with a type if you have the hours. Something to think about.

I'd be much more interested if they had a different base in MT except Billings.

What are they trying to do in Puerto Rico?! I might have to send in my stuff so I can move back "home".... can't say I am a big fan of not having hot weather, beaches, and salsa music.

I can't remember the company down in Puerto Rico that was doing the flying, but they went belly up. Alpine is taking over the routes. Pretty sure it's mail they'll be flying. Jeff told me that two guys who flew out of Billings were willing to move down there, so no positions open as of now in Puerto Rico.

Ahh thats right, GFK Flight Support is the FBO your looking for. I wouldn't mind sliding up there again for a decent paycheck, maybe this Fall after I get some multi I'll give it a shot, thanks for the info.

Yeah, but is this postition paid? or are you paying them? Ive heard they make you buy time in the airplane whether youre qualified or not. Anyone know if this is true?

Corporate Air "Air Spur" . FYI

So THAT'S what that call sign is.

Always sounded like a slurred "Air Sprayer" to me. (I'm like, who is dusting crops in January in North Dakota and why are they talking to center anyway?) Or "Harrisburg", "Air Spooge", "Hairspray" or plain ol' "airspourqeigh."

Seriously, it's been driving me nuts trying to figure it out. I was about to call Center the other day to ask them. I kid you not.

I gotta get a Bose before I go totally deaf.

Did Corporate Air have Brasilias down in Peurto Rico?
They have two in operation last time I visited which was about two weeks ago. I hear rumors from peeps you and I both know about a competitor of Corporates bringing Brasilia's down to the island.... any truth?

I would be interested in learning who went belly up.... I haven't heard anything since my company went out... I hope those guys know what they are getting into... flying through hurricanes is a little different from snow storms.
