Alpha Flying/Planesense

Well, things just changed quite a bit. 7/7 has gone the way of the dodo, and the new schedule is 8/6. There will still be some 7/7 schedules, but the pay is much lower than 8/6, and its not available for new hires. The starting pay as gone up to $30k, with a raise to $34k after 6 months. All the other pay scales have gone up as well, but it's not a linear increase for the additional days you have to work. There is also a weekend start day now, which there has never been in the past. You get some additional pay, but you'll never have a weekend off.

The new pay scale helps some of the middle seniority captains, but really screws the senior guys, and since you now have to bid for what work cycle you're assigned, the junior guys are getting screwed with schedule. I haven't talked to one person that is happy about these changes.

That really sucks. I have to think there are a lot of folks ready to take a leap.

I threw in my resume and got a response email with an application attached. I very much want to get into the fractional type flying, but I want to know more about the company. From what I have been reading, the 8/6 schedule is not being received well? I currently fly for a regional that is threatening us with bankruptcy so this seems like the time to jump ship. So I gather from the "must live within 2 hours: means that there is no CASS type system available for this job huh? If anyone wants to tell me more than they want to put on the public board feel free to PM me, any info is appreciated.

350tt with 50 hours in the -45. May have the opportunity to fly as a contract SIC in an NG under 135. These times will improve drastically in the following months as I finish my MEII and start instructing full time.

Need more TT.

Yeah no way it is possible. FAR 91k calls for SIC's to have 500 total.

How is the company? Good and stable? Doing ok in these times? How many hours do you actually get to fly?

I guess. Its a privately held company so I have no idea what the financials really look like, but I don't worry about getting laid off.

As Jimmy said, the last scheduled class is March, though they are interviewing for a pool. I believe the want at least a class worth of swimmers in case there is a mini exodus leading up to the summer. As I understand it, we will be slightly overstaffed after the March class gets finished.

The minimum to get looked at is 1200, maybe 1000 if you have a recommendation and a fairly diverse experience background.

I'm flying roughly 40 hours a month right now in the winter, last July I flew 85ish. I would expect 600 or so a year.

Figured I'd bump this thread. I received the packet in my email and it looks like they're trying to set up for a July class. It sounds like a good job, but I'd really only want PDK. I understand it's a smaller base?

Just curious, what were your flight times?

I applied about a month ago with 1750tt, 1500PIC, ATP mins, CFI/II/MEI, and I just got a "we're hiring for a july class, and will contact you if you meet our qualifications" email a few days ago.

I originally applied last fall when I had 1200TT and have updated my stuff every so often. I'd say the last time I updated was in January or February and that was about 150 hours ago. I'm currently at 1550TT, ATP mins, and CFI/II/MEI myself. Sounds like we got the same email. Did they leave you the packet?

They are advertising on Climbto350 for both PSM and PDK, so sounds like you won't have a problem getting PDK. Yes it is a smaller base, but it's not like an airline where you need seniority to get off reserve, or something. I no longer work for PS, but I have nothing bad to say about the place. Great experience, they treat you well, and decent QOL.

If you don't mind me asking, what type of position did you take when you left PS? I keep hearing that it is a great place to work, but I'd like to see where the single engine time is taking people. Did you leave as an FO or Capt? I have a little over 200 ME at this time, so no really a lot of multi time if I wanted to get into something else after PS that's not exactly entry level.

I was a captain, and I left to work for a local 135 operator as a F/O on a Hawker. I had about 650 hours of turbojet SIC before I came to PS, which I'm sure helped. What was a bigger help was the networking that I did. If you have 200 hours of ME, you're far ahead of a lot of the other PS pilots.
