Alpha Flying/Planesense

Small correction though, starting pay is $27k.

I'm a little late to the party, but I started back in April, and x2 on the starting pay.

Commuting can be tough, as I know of a few guys who lived more than 2hrs away, and it can be difficult. I was living a little over 2hrs away for about 2 months after starting, and in all honesty, it was hell sometimes. During your 7 days on, there's no guarantee that you'll be on the road each night, in fact I've had a few cycles where the first 3 or 4 days I was "home" (in base) each night, which would have been great if I had a place to stay locally. Now that I live a few minutes from base, the day trips are actually enjoyable, and for someone with a family, there is the chance that you can land day trips and be home at night during part of your 7 on.

One thing I really do like is the variety and the airplane. The airplane is amazing and can do whatever ATC needs, whether it's 220kts or 85kts. And never knowing where you'll be that night is something that I love. I really like the small town airports in the middle of no where that we go to, and right after we'll be at a major class B airport.

Any questions feel free to PM

Yes you're allowed to do outside flying with permission of the D.O. No one has ever been denied, they just want to make sure people aren't flying for their competitors.

Well, the pay seems sort of ludicrous, but then I've worked for ridiculous pay before, too. I will say that the PC-12 is a pretty nice ride (little overautomated for its level of performance, IMHO, but then I guess that's the future) and the Alpha guys I met on the road seemed like a pretty good lot. What you need an F/O for on this thing is beyond me, though... ;)

Over automated? It has a KLN-90B.....and the f/o is required by FAR part 91K.

Starting pay is higher than at a commuter, with much better QOL.

Regarding crew bases, it's PSM and PDK only.

Shrug. Well, I fly a -10 (maybe I should turn my non-existant eppaulettes around), but I trained in a -9 with the 90B, and even that seemed a little bit over-computerized for what it was (pusher test, autopilot test). I would have had more use for an F/O (although still not much) on an MU-2. FFS, It's a single engine airplane that stalls at the speed of an VW Bus!

As to the money, it's futile to argue. I've taken jobs where I was paid VASTLY less than any reasonable person would accept, so I can't throw stones there. I'm definitely not (I hope) one of those guys who drops in to every thread to poop on a job. Hope everyone gets hired and has a good time...just have your eyes open going in (applies to every job).

Trust me, having a f/o is a good thing on leg 6 of a 14 hour duty day doing an approach to mins.

I don't understand how running some before taxi tests is "over computerization". The NextGen -12 is a bit heavy on the automation, but once you learn how to use it, it's a good system. But there are always people that bitch about things being too complicated......

Again, a shrug. I get where you're coming from, but when I've got a sick kid in the back with the nurses and medics all crowded around, I get a little bit irritated that I have at least 3-5 minutes of nonsense to deal with before I blast off. Steam gauge airplane, you set everything up, pull the charts, and are ready to go. This thing, I can't even program the flightplan until the engine is runnin and we're just sitting there converting dead dinosaurs to noise for no good reason. But whatever, all fuel for a different fire. Thanks for posting the job lead.

What's wrong with the stby bus?

Never know when they're gonna get there. Ridiculous (IMHO) that the systems don't have memory, but there you are. Besides, even if I could load the flightplan, I still have a relatively long checklist I can't even start until we're turning.

In the KLN90B, you can pre-load everything but the departure. In the -10 you can leave the standby bus on and pre-load everything. With the Garmin equipped airplanes of course, you can store it all in a flight plan ahead of time.

I agree the rest of the systems could be toned down some. The pusher should be able to be tested once per day, and even with that, it should be able to be tested on a gpu before engine start like a Learjet. I always say that level of automation in the PC-12 really lightens your workload right up until the point in the flight when it does not work. The good news is that you get pretty good at your QRH because systems are constantly breaking on this airplane. I have flown the airplane both single pilot and two pilot and it really does not matter to me. The customers like having two pilots, and well as previously mentioned 91k requires it.
