ALPA vote

There's a plan?
Yes. Not saying I agree with every decision, but that's why it is fluid. It will be great to see the Virgin America pilots come aboard if they so choose. It would also be great to see some of our Canadian pilots join the ranks as well.

ALPA is not aggressively going after pilot groups right now, much to my displeasure, but that's what the current strategic plan calls for.

Well lets not put the horse ahead of the cart yet. We have many guys who are 'no' and pretty vocal on the company forum. In fact some are so desperate they are saying that if you are leaving the company this year, don't vote and just abstain because they won't be here for "the pain." It's pretty sad, most of it are guys hired in '07 who are senior CAs, get everything they want schedule and vacation wise, never spent time on reserve, and at least one guy is complaining that the junior guys are about to give him a 2% paycut. I'm not even kidding. Some of these guys are concerned only about maximizing their paycheck for their remaining ~5 years.

It's pretty sad, if not pathetic.

Don't you dare let any of those same guys end up in leadership positions with your MEC, should ALPA gain representation rights for you guys.

Talk about being around for pain. It won't be pretty and they won't give a damn about you.

Make the right choices when it comes to electing LEC Officers and stay involved and aware of the names being mentioned for MEC Officer and Negotiating Committee positions.

Countless pilot groups have been apathetic and allowed poorly experienced, or straight up single-track motivated, individuals to ascend into "leadership" positions without a single peep from pilots.

Don't make that mistake.

Good luck.

While apathy is part of it, a large part is also not know the people who run, aside from a short bio/blurb they might send out.
