ALPA charged with Unfair Labor Practices???

Walked the picket line today with the Unit 1 staffers. They had a large group picketing out in front of ALPA headquarters. Hopefully this will start moving things towards a quick resolution.

Which brings up an interesting point...what happens when people strike on their employer which is a labor union? Does ALPA hire Scabs or replacement workers for this, and if so are these SCABS hired but then treated badly and called SCABS by the people that hired them? Do the phones constantly ring because nobody wants to do "struck work" by answring them because the receptionists/secretarial staff are walking the picket line? Please understand that I hope all goes well for them...but it does strike me as funny that a union is being picketed and that you, the biggest ALPA guy on the boards are walking the line...against ALPA.

EDIT - Also, the fact that you ARE walking the line against ALPA gives you much more credibility than you already had - at least in my book.

Hey man, way to stand up to the man!

Seriously though. Good job.

ALPA's Unit 2 staff actually did go on strike for a few days back in 2005 or 2006 (can't remember the exact date). Captain Woerth shut down the ALPA offices all across the country and honored the picket lines. The strike was resolved quickly. I'm not sure if Captain Prater would do the same, but I would certainly hope so.

These Unit 1 staffers are what make ALPA so great. The attorneys, communications specialists, financial analysts, and all of the rest of the Unit 1 members are the ones that give our ALPA members all of the resources that they need to better their careers. ALPA would be nothing without Unit 1. They have my complete support.

:yeahthat:

They are worth every penny and then some for the work they do. Hope it ends shortly and the Unit 1 employees get what they are asking for!
