That was something that bugged me about Eagle and Midway, yet was great about Mesa.

Eagle and Midway schedulers had short memories (about 30 seconds.) I'd do favors and then nothing.

The folks at Mesa were allowed, no not allowed but encouraged to honor their deals (at least during my 5 year tenure.)

I helped them out of jams now and then and they remembered me as "one of the good guys."

That is a worthy goal, because it improves your quality of life tremendously.
 
The trouble with the Eagle schedulers was the turnover factor. If you did something good for a scheduler, there was a good chance you may never talk to that person again!

I've had very good experiences with schedulers and I've had very bad experiences with schedulers. Basically I just do what I have to do, and then go home. I don't do favors unless it's a good deal for both parties. I don't mind giving a little, but I'd better be getting something out of the deal too.

It is highly recommended though to not put your real home phone number in the computer. Put a cell phone, or a 'sched' phone number in. I had friends who, in their crashpad, had a regular phone line, which was the number they gave out to friends & family, then they had a second line that they had a red phone plugged into and the only time that number was given out was as a scheduling contact number.
 
wow, we usually provide "passdown" sheets to the next scheduler on duty to give them an idea on whats going on, when your reserves will time out and so fourth...no excuse for your situation though...on behalf of schedulers WORLDWIDE I APOLOGIZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha
 
I had a pilot that was drinking on duty while on reserve, he admitted to it over a recorded line, tried to deny it to the Chief Pilot later on. They yanked the tapes, and played it back, he then tried to twist his own words around, the court case went on for two years.

Whenever the pilots would call into the office and said that they had worked a deal with the schedulers, I would call the scheduler at home, I would also make sure the schedulers did what they promised.

Recorded lines help not only the pilots but the schedulers as well, you would be surprised what you would hear on tape.
 
All of our schedulers and even the jumpseat desk is all recorded. It feels like you're calling the police department from all of the "boop"s in the background.
 
Yeah, we used to have those beeps in the background, it would beep every 6-8 seconds, they were a pain. Sometimes I would forget about the recorded lines and would zone out the beeps, let's just say an old girlfriend of mine called me at 0200 in the morning & the phone call got quite creative. My boss wanted to know how much did I want to buy the tape for, I was married at the time.
