Allegiant

I remember talking with a lot Allegiant pilots during my gate days asking how they do it....most of them replied "You gotta find your Allegiant"

Been here about a year and half and ill just say its a great place if you are looking for a stepping stone in your career. Training is a mess, standardization is a disaster, and mx is self explanatory. I live in base, get 18 days off at about 85 hours, make a decent wage
(not industry standard) but am looking to get out to Major as quick as I can. If you go to work, do your job, leave all the B.S. at work, its not bad.

Would love to hear more from people currently at Allegiant or recently there. I know you likely will not post anything bad about them if you work there, so lets try this.

1. Would you advise a Regional FO who is a year from Capt upgrade to go to Allegiant if he would choose to live in base and only needed to get to his permanent home one time every month or two.

2. Presently makes about 30/hour and Capt upgrade next year gets him to a bit more than double that. His benefits are so bad Obama Care is better than the company plan, so he has that. He carries loss of medical and STD and LTD through ALPA. Seems financially close to a lateral move in comp, agree?

3. Did you go from a regional to Allegiant? Was it a good decision? Would you do it again if given the chance?

Thanks.

PS -
Everyone may be hiring, but in reality. Gama has not called me, even with internal referral. XO Jet has not called me. These are two places I would love to go on the 135 side. Would consider any similar home based 135 ops with 8/6 or 7/7 or similar schedules. Not one has called.

Also would definitely consider Spirit and Jet Blue over Allegiant, neither called yet. Would love Southwest or Fed Ex or UPS but does not meet the PIC time, so that is in the future for me. Also has an app in with United, no call there either.

Allegiant is the first call outside of a regional for me. Plus had a lot of life changing events the last year, so I am more open to relocation now than in the past.

Don't want to jump on the first place that calls since my heart is torn between Jet Blue or Southwest or United or Fed Ex or UPS as a career. Or a strong corporate aviation opportunity (91 or 135). Life will dertermine the final destination as pros and cons of each for me. But again. No calls from them yet. Only calls from a couple 135s I researched and said no to on my own. And calls from supplimental cargo companies which after self research those schedules are not for me.

Are you posting these questions expecting an answer for free and then charging folks for career counseling?

These questions are for me personally to make a decision. Plus my career counseling is not helping people decide where to apply. They must decide that on their own. I am doing what I help my clients do. I guide them in research. Here I am researching on my own through various resources (this would be a resource I would suggest to pilots with the comment of also you need to see through some people's BS on here and be aware of the know it alls).

And pilots are not my niche anyway. And just to inform you some more, my company matured beyond that to www.rockstarbizgroup.com now. I would appreciate you posting that link next time ;)

On a side note. I also rately do counseling for pilots since this industry has zero correlation in interview and hiring process within corporate america. A pilot resume is a far cry from a corporate resume. My niche is aviation and non-aviation companies, but not pilots within those companies. In 20 years never once helped a pilot within the 121 world and would turn them over to other better qualified resources. And in 20 years only placed two pilots, both into non flying positions. Oddly, it was only one prior to this last Friday.

Now. Looking for answers to my questions from Allegiant pilots. After all. I assume this is what this community is still about. Helping fellow pilots.

I was a regional FO 3 years in 4 years from upgrade many. I did live in base for a bit at my regiona, though I did move to the base so I didnt have to commutel. I"m originally from The PHX area and After I leave the 757 in Feb of next year I'll be on the AB out of IWA .

It was a later move for me to go for 4th year pay to 1st yr pay here. But second year pay here is more then I would have made if I could have upgraded to CA at my regional.

Yes, its not a major but Its better then the regional I was at.

TexasFlyer. If I were you I'd consider Allegiant. Bigger airplane looks better on a resume if you want the best shot at an upper tier job. I'm not defending the place but I see much criticism coming from people who don't work there. If I were you I'd find some guys that really work there and buy them a beer. On your next couple days off go jumpseat on them and try to get an honest feel for the place. The airlines recent history is out there for everyone to see and it's easy for people sitting on a soap box to give an overly negative opinion. If the job works for YOU, then take it.

Even with all I've said negative in this thread, that's some solid advice.

He said that he is getting ready to upgrade soon, wouldn't it be better to upgrade and start collecting valuable PIC time? Than having only SIC time even on a bigger jet?

Lemme check…

Nope, just at 772 so I can almost apply for a major!

While I'll agree that TPIC is not as revered as it once was, and yes there are people getting hired without it. In this SUPER competitive hiring environment it might make you stand out more, along with some other resume qualifications.

Come on Derg, I said it's a good thing to have. It's not required... I have more ETPOS time then I that TPIC. I'd bet my ETOPS time is worth a bit more. But who knows.
