Allegiant Makes a Profit

re: 121 pilots throw bags or no? (and some Allegiant stuff)

Kell, $61/hr is an RJ rate, and $118/hr is just over an RJ rate at the top end at a nice regional. Sorry, but they're really nothing more than good RJ rates that have a steeper pay scale gradient so it gets there in 10 years instead of 15.

Lies, damn lies and statistics, I guess. If by "just over" you mean "about $16/hr," I guess you're right. You can twist it however ya want to make it look how you want, though. I still say it's a stretch to call it regional rates.

I guess the question is, if Allegiant were ALPA, would you still have the same opinion?

Yup. I guess I expect too much intellectual firepower here. I'll try to dumb things down in the future so that everyone gets it.

I guess I'm just asking for too much. But then, you know, if the College Board uses analogies on the SATs and high school kids are expected to be able to grasp them, I figure adults should be able to.

Maybe not.
Your analogy was a stupid one. The banks paid a lot of money to a certain employee so you bring that up as a counter to my statement that (despite the prevailing wisdom here) the airline doesn't exist to pay one group of its employees. Sorry if I fail to see the "intellectual firepower" behind that it seemed like an idiotic way to inject some anti-management nonsense into the discussion which was made especially stupid by being about a completely different company in a completely different sector of the economy.

When i worked on the ground for ExpressJet last summer in OKC we were contracted to handle Allegiant as well. Pretty good company from what i could tell. Only thing that was stupid is that they used DFW for customs when coming in from mexico to OKC. Always delayed them several hours. Towards the end of ExpressJet they finally got smart and started using Laredo instead.

Crews were always pretty nice. One pilot in particular was a true professional, we were short handed because we began loosing people left and right once the announcment was made that ExpressJet branded was going to be no more. We were running behind schedule im throwing bags and turn around to see the Captain helping me. Im sure some of you think that was terrible of the captain to do, but i was highly impressed and very grateful to him. Found his email that night and sent him a thank you.

So all in all i say good company that has found a good nitch in the industry. Also i would love to be home 95% of the time once i get an airline job.
