Allegiant Air Fuel Incident

I noticed you kept calling it that! Ha!

They're all DC-9s to me anyway.

Oh I agree. But I have run into the

"so how do you like the MD-80?"

"Um, the MD-82, is a nice bird yes. I enjoy it"

Sheesh.......

Real MDC Airplanes

When Pilots were real men and kept sheep in the cockpit!

What do the drawings say?

F/A-18 E/F all still say McDonnell-Douglas.

Of course MD still exists on paper as a wholly owned subsidiary of Boeing.

Which is a travesty.
My logbook still says DC9. :)

One can log whatever the hell they want. I know a guy at Republic who logged all his 175 time as "GuppyKiller".

My only point was, Mike is almost always a fountain of actual fact and information and this one wasn't (which I'm sure he knew but was just making McD vs. Boeing commentary) and didn't want people getting confused.

To me, the MD-95 is as much a Boeing product, as an F-16 is a Lockheed-Martin product. :)

And everytime I read Boeing F-15 Eagle..................barf. All these mergers and acquisitions make things weird.

To me, a Boeing 717, is a KC-135 (even though one gets a Boeing 707/720 type in one). :)

Like the B-26, we talking Martin Marauder or Douglas Invader here?

A Boeing 717, is and shall always be, a KC-135. :)

Oh boy... so... no... no no no no no no... the 135 and 717 are nothing alike.

I guess I don't really care so much about the history of an aircraft. If it's got two wings (minimum), two engines (minimum), a comfortable seat, good AC and a working lav, I'm happy. The type certificate says Boeing 717. The registration say's Boeing 717. My type rating says DC9. I use the [HASHTAG]#notreallyaboeing[/HASHTAG] hash tag sometimes. C'est la vie.

"Boeing 717 was the company designation for C-135 Stratolifter and KC-135 Stratotanker derivatives of the 367-80. The designation was later re-used in renaming the McDonnell Douglas MD-95 to Boeing 717 after the company was merged with Boeing."

Yes, the Boeing 717 is currently the former MD-95, but it wasn't always. Just some interesting history.
