Alaska landing incident SNA

You're only a cool SEA person if you have Blundstones. Particularly if you wear them when you come up to "the country" up my way, for a fun weekend getaway with hay bales, making the plaid shirts rain, and $2000 worth of gear from REI. Double the points if you arrive in either a Tesla, or a kitted out Sprinter van. So cool

I have a rad Arctic jacket and insulated boots I wore when I flew the freighter.

I also held on to my SkyWeezy trench coat. For 120 bucks it’s magical even though everyone thinks I’m mental for wearing it.

Works for really cold and really sideways wet too

Still trying to figure out how to pack for the winter 3 day to PHX followed by FAI.

The transition jacket gets me though most of the winter. For deep winter I trade that for the trench coat. I keep gloves and a wool hat in the pockets of the coat. I also used my sport jacket or whatever the jacket we got with the stripes is called. I guess I could use my FO one and sew a stripe on but I was hoping I’d make it to the new uniform first.

Usually I just hang it over my bag when it’s too hot to wear. I don’t try and pack it. The rest of my kit remains the same.

Does it get cold with the main cabin door open in the winter? I wonder how y’all do the walk around in those crazy places with the temps

One time I forgot my toque on a deadhorse turn. I have a policy of doing the walk around when the wx sucks, and on this particular day it was bumping -40 and about 30kts of wind. I was pretty sure I was gonna lose an ear.

The cabin can get quite chilly especially if someone needs the DPL, which is usually R1, sometimes L2. Creates a flippin wind tunnel.

Also if you’re in a cold place like that with newer FAs without a jetway, the ANC flight attendants turn on the oven and leave it open so they can stand next to it.

That's fair. I was cruising along at FL400 the other day between LAX and ANC and listened to an Alaska get radar contact, then cleared approach. I thought to myself that it sounds like too much work.
I “grew up” flying JNU-HNH and JNU-GST. You really got excited about the occasional 40 minute trip alllll the way up to HNS because that meant you got to log ATP cross country. Going down to KAE was practically like another country.

I think I’ll be fine 🙂
