Airworthiness Directives

Really there is a third also...Emergency A.D.

Any collection of things can be grouped multiple ways; the FAA did it one way on that web page and PeterPilot did it another. I suspect that PeterPilot's answer is more useful, less obscure, and probably what was being asked for.

I'm dealing with the Circuit Breaker AD on our Baron - which has been a learning process in itself.

The service bulletin states you must obtain the parts through RAPID, which is Hawker Beechcraft's parts subsidiary. Because everyone has been waiting for the August 6th deadline, the parts are backordered and won't be availaible for some time.

The AD also states the parts must be original equipment supplied through HB so no short cut there either.

After lots of sifting through different websites and the FAA I came up with an AMOC - Alternative Means Of Compliance in which it tells you to get a hard copy of your order from RAPID, a copy of the FAA memo detailing the AMOC and send it all with a cover letter to the local FSDO. This gives you operating authority up to 90 days after the last of the parts arrive at the shop or at the place of repairs or wherever even if you go beyond the AD date of compliance. (Probably wouldn't be the case for an Emergency AD though.)

Not exactly what was asked in this thread, but I thought it might be of interest to some - feel free to hit delete!

Oh, yeah, we are dealing with the same issue of it being hard to get also but I didn't know about the solution to the problem. Thanks for sharing.
