Airways jumpseat?

Are they still allowing you to list at the gate like the old way or have they switched over to the online American system? If they are still doing it the paper copy way, does anyone know when it will switch to the American way?

The new system at AA will be the US Airways system.

I think you guys are talking about two different things.

The internal "Airways System" allows listing for a jumpseat X amount of days in advance and having it reserved for you. The internal AA system involved first come first serve.

The EXTERNAL system that I think was being asked about here involved the ability of an offline pilot to walk up to a gate and list for the jumpseat right there (USAirways system) vs. having to list via ID90 or a phone number (AA system) ahead of time and bring the record locator number to the gate with you.

I'd hope they move to the Airways system for both.

Awesome. I love jumpseating on US Airways. Best jumpseating experiences everytime.
+1... Used them a ton when I was commuting to IND. Ability to gate check a bag and have it appear on the the jetway when you get off the plane.... PRICELESS!

I no longer commute, and i have no idea what the us way was...couldnt have been worse than AA's

Progress

Where did you see that? I still hear the AA guys are stomping their feet about a seniority system.

@skyw82

I've heard for the longest time that the OAL system was going to be kept as the USAir method.

Furthermore, I remember reading in one of the APA Board of Directors emails stating that the board had a discussion regarding managements plans to adopt the USAir IVR jumpseat reservation system.

It's temporary selection of the LuS way now. They had to do it this way now because we don't know who is senior to whom when comparing LAA to LUS. I wouldn't be surprised at all to the see offline process go to the LAA because of the "were bigger" so it's easier to do it this way.
