AirTran 717 new paintjob

I saw the tranny 717 painted in Baltimore Ravens colors yesterday in ATL. Looked good, but not quite as good as the falcons one

Here's an interesting excerpt from the Boeing factsheet pertaining to a Korean 737-900:

Timeline: Application:
This paint process takes between five and seven days to complete on a Boeing 737, instead of the standard three days.

Drying Time: Two to four hours per color, at temperatures ranging between 90 and 120 degrees

Gallons of paint:
Approximately 55 gallons of paint are used. This is 15 gallons more than what is required to paint a typical three-color scheme livery on a 737.

Additional weight:
The increased 15 gallons add a nominal 35 pounds of additional weight. A typical paint scheme on a 737 weighs approximately 200 to 250 pounds.

That's what we all thought when Horizon announced they were going to talk to the respective universities about the "free" advertising. It seemed to take some of our managers by surprise when UW and U of O wanted us to pay them for the rights...Boise State on the other hand, was beyond happy about there upcoming Q400 (to be displayed soon).

This is a big business. Licensing of university logos and usage is a huge revenue generator for a well-known school. The University of Texas makes a significant amount of money on licensing its image. I imagine some of the larger, more popular schools do, too, like Universities of Florida, Tennessee, and Ohio State University, too.

Sounds like something those losers would do
