Airshows shouldn't exist

Again, if you go to a basketball game with 20k people, four will die from choking alone (based on my previous post of 1 in 4,404)

You do realize that that 1 in 4,404 number means during their entire lifetime, right? If you go to a basketball game, the probability is that absolutely no one is going to die at the game from anything. If you look around at 20,000 people, about 4 of them will die from choking at some point in their life. And it's usually in old age or infancy.

This is hardly comparable to a 2% chance that someone is going to die at any given airshow due to an accident. You don't have even a 0.002% chance of dying from a basketball accident at a basketball game, let alone 2%. To try to make this comparison is absurd. You know better.

Circuses should have been banned centuries ago because spectators and performers routinely get injured or killed. But they're fun so...

Circuses should be outlawed because of how the animals are treated. I don't care how "fun" they are.

I respect everyone's opinion here...

This is flawed thinking when dealing with "Chicken Littles" who deserve to be lampooned like "Truthers". For instance, yesterday I met a woman who didn't believe we walked on the moon because it didn't have the same gravity as the earth. Her opinion isn't valid and I politely, but directly, explained to her that there is gravity on the moon and why the flag "waved" after they mounted it.

If those who were dissenting in this thread respected our opinions then there might be room on the middle ground but placating these sanctimonious cowards isn't something I find useful.

In every thread. Wasn't Velocipede banned for that?

Edit to add: It boggles my mind how someone can be so informed on every subject. Must have to much time on their hands.

Nah, ban birth. Everyone dies. 100% fatality rate.
Especially since with some of y'all, there seems to be no room for fun during the short period of life.

Wasn't that Carradine?

Guy in my training academy who had flown for a regional, told me about the regional capt found in his hotel room in this way after failing to show up for the morning van ride.

There's been quite a few.

Always have safety personal within a 15 mile radius of any air show to yell at people to, "Hey, LOOK OUT!!! Plane crash happening now!!"

Life is scary. Don't do anything outside of your bunker. Live forever!

*BEFORE THE LOCK*

As stated it was from the article linked.

Yeah, so digging into the facts a bit... there were 411 airshows involving aerobatic displays (including the red bull air races, but not including aerobatic competitions) in the US and Canada during 2015 (according to ICAS schedules). There were 3 fatalities and one "incident"... So, I'm no engineer, but this equals less than 1% of even being at the same event. Furthermore, airshows are 9 times out of 10 spread out into a multi-day affair. So, let's just say that half of those airshows had 2 day performances (most are 3-4 days counting practices). So total, say 616 performances (I'm even being generous there)... 4 incidents over the period of 616 performances equal about slightly more than a .5% of even being at the same airshow to possibly witness something happen, that has an extremely small percentage of happening to non-performers.

Absolutely horrifying. These results and these numbers are staggering. Why would ANYONE subject themselves to the dangers that are called, "Air Shows"?
Hope to GOD ABOVE, they shut down Barksdale immediately. They host air shows in May.
