Pan Am 747 Investigation
On December 21, 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing all 259 people on board as well as 11 on the ground. Although it was clear that a bomb had taken Flight 103 down, it took more then eleven years to bring anyone to trial. On December 21, 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 taxied out of Heathrow Airport in London at 6:04 p.m. The 243 passengers and 16 crew members were preparing themselves for a long flight to New York. At 6:25 p.m the Boeing 747 of Pan Am Flight 103 took off. By 6:56 p.m., the plane had reached 31,000 feet. At 7:03 p.m., an explosive device went off catastrophically killing everyone on board. Clearance had just cleared Flight 103 for their oceanic segment for their flight to New York when the aircraft went off the radar and multiple pieces of the aircraft appearing on the radar afterwards.Residents over Lockerbie described hearing a large roar and pieces falling like meteors from the sky. They soon saw pieces of the plane as well as pieces of bodies landing in fields, in backyards, on fences, and on rooftops. Fuel from the plane was already on fire before it hit the ground; some of it landed on houses, making the houses explode. Wreckage was scattered over 50 square miles. As 11 people were also killed on the ground, the total death toll was 270 lives. This bombing came to an effect very similar to the recent September 11th attacks happening in 2001. Although the flight carried passengers from 21 different countries, the terrorist attack affected many Americans and their thoughts about terrorism. There was an intensive investigation pertaining to Pan Am Flight 103. Investigators interviewed over 15,000 people, looked at more than 180,000 pieces of evidence, and researched more than 40 countries. All to get some information on what caused the explosion. The bomb was made out of the plastic explosive Semtex and was activated by a timer. The bomb was hidden in a Toshiba radio-cassette player which was in a brown Samsonite suitcase. A man and his dog were walking in a forest in Lockerbie when he found a t-shirt with pieces of a timer on it. After some study of this evidence, investigators identified the suspects as Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi and Al Amin Khalifa Fhimah. After all these years we still have yet to know if these suspects are terrorists.

Interestingly...TWA also had a 747 that went down...maybe it has to do with 747's and the like crashing....and the comsumer reaction to it.....

Oh I tought it was just about the bombing and I don't know If I can get to the library. I understand what happened sort of now so why do I need to work on this. Its good enough being summer. I really don't feel like doing anything involving wiriting.

I don't mind going to the library but it is not something I would do for fun. I don't know what has been happening but lately I've only gotten more and more lazy and really don't finish anything I start. Was learning web design and gave up, was trying to learn other things and gave up. Always because I find something I like better but then before I barely begin something I start something else. I just don't have the patience to do it anymore. And this is worrysome as im just 15 and still have a lot I need to do. Any suggestions?

get over the lazyness by changing your lifestyle around some - get up earlier, go for a walk or even a run in early morning (when it's cool) to get your blood pumping, and maybe stick to a schedule of something...
you could always try planning your day the night before and outlining what you need to get done during the day to accomplish your daily tasks.. i'm a major lazya**... and i find if i create a list for myself the night before, i have in a sense created a daily schedule for myself.. otherwise i'll just laze around, watch movies all day and get absolutely nothing done and then feel bad about NOT getting anything done....I'm also a night owl (as is doug), we can each easily stay up till 3am on any night.. but since we have things to do during the day, i make sure to be to bed by 11 or 12 at the latest and up by 8am (on the weekend), 5am during the week for work....

Thanks a lot Kristie. I will try to get to sleep earlier and wake up ealier too. I've been going to sleep at 6AM and waking up at 3PM everyday and it is really screwing me up. I'll try ti change a few things. Thanks again!

Thats natural for everyone especially at your age. You are just now getting to an age where you can really start to learn about the world. There are so many interesting things in life its easy to get sidetracked. You just have to do your best to stay "Focused". Im 27 and my list of things to learn about in life keeps growing.

take drugs? drugs won't help... you need to own up and move up and away from all that - on your own.. change your diet.. get up and excercise...make a move to get things done etc etc....
and with the parents "not letting" you go to the airport - sorry dude, i think that's a big copout and you can fix that easy by finding a way to get there, on your own volition, and telling them that you want to go hang out at hte airport for so and so reasons... if you stick to your guns with them and show them your independent and this is REALLY what you want to do... they should be ok with that. Just don't go above them and go beyond the rules cuz that's how you get in trouble with parents. have you talked to them about becoming a pilot and if so, have they told you they don't want you to be a pilot and what their reasons are? if so, you need to come up with the answers for them and dispell their fears!! if you really want to be a pilot, you gotta go out there and get it!
just to give an example.. i have a cousin who wanted to be a commercial pilot and used to talk to doug and myself fairly often about it - but he admitted to us that his dad & mom didn't want him to be a pilot because of the reasons stated below... so they would essentially not let doug or I talk to him (they still don't, I have to go thru his mom for his christmas items, he's 25 now) - his parents always want doug or myself to go thru them to "talk" to my cousin and relay messages (if that makes any sense?)... well, my cousin did decide to go to college for an aviation degree and got his ppl but with the insistance of "you don't wanna be a pilot" by the parents, he dropped out of there and joined the local airline mechanics school (granted, now he could live at home again)... so i think (not too sure) his parents told him "ok, you got your ppl, your done, you don't need to go any further, just be a recreational pilot"... he still wanted to be a pilot, but somehow, they were able to talk him away from being a pilot to being an airline mechanic....
now, i have nothing against airline mechanics, but when you have a career you really want to do and then your kinda sorta pushed into doing someting you don't want to do... it's not really what you want to do is it? so right now, he's an airline mechanic who still wants to be a commercial pilot! maybe someday he'll own up and do what he'd be happy doing instead of pleasing the parents so much...
their reasons for not wanting him to be a pilot:
1) he'd be gone all the time
2) it's not the way to have a christian marriage
3) it's dangerous
4) it provides too much opportunity for infidelity (totally not true mind you! all jobs are like that)

I feel like that on saturdays & sundays if I'm not up and at em by like 10am.. sometimes, if i sleep till 9 and don't get out of the house by noon, i feel like I can't get anything done because hte days 1/2 over...KWIM?

Well it is not that I don't have enough time to do things. I have too much time and not enough things to do. My parents don't have a problem with me becoming a pilot but they just talk and won't do anything. Everything they think I need to wait for. I wanted to take an intro and they said for me to wait. I want to go to the airport and they say I have nothing to do there. They talk like Im gonna get arrested for going to the airport or something.
