Airliner down in Russia, all feared dead

Story goes this was the third approach after 2 missed.... loss of control in a go-around? Pure and utter speculation. Even so, it's hard to imagine a stall so aggressive they come down 90 degrees nose down

I'm not over there so I can't say for sure what is being said/what has been found. My russian is average at best so I'm just passing on what multiple native speakers told me.

I'll stop commenting on this thread and just wait for CNN/FOX to give me a technically sound, factually based, accurate aviation report on what happened.

You'll be waiting for a long time. It was good seeing you post on here though!:D:cool:

Didn't mean to spread a rumor on here. Should have just kept it to myself. Comment Deleted. Moving on...

Dude, this site lives on rumots. If you don't post them, how will people know to be pissed at you? ;) Relax, all is rumot until the factual first report comes out, and then more rumots spread until the final report comes out a year later. As for Russia, who knows what the report will read, or who gets bought off for the final...just saying!;) It isn't a stereotype if it's true...

Jetrumors.com has a nice ring to it ;) …and "who gets bought off for the final" is the other thing that the native speakers told me…so I don't doubt you at all.

Where are you that you have so many "native speakers"? Just say Russians, Russkies, Commies (term used here some), or other terms of endearment. BTW, I think Jetrumors.com was coined about 6-7 years ago. :D

My жена is Russky and we have a lot friends and family back in Russia. Next time we go over there, I'll throw the ol' Moscow M&G thread up and maybe we can get together for beer.

Is Rumorto350.com already patented?

Insert premature speculation disclaimer here. When I saw the location of the crash, my first thought was that an early decision to go-around might have preceded the crash. Beyond that, I don't have enough for further speculation?

Very cool. Let me know when you're coming. I still have had nobody from this site come out here. I've ridden on Derg's ride to Paris to get here, but nobody from here has come out...

Edit: I forgot what thread I was posting in. I will continue the conversation elsewhere. Thoughts and prayers to those lost and their families.

It's all speculation at this point. There is a security camera (or dashcam, not sure which) that shows them auguring in. Then a fireball confirming they augured in. RIP to those that perished and their families.

Does everybody in Russia have a dashcam?
No, but it is very common, especially for taxi drivers, who are everywhere. I'm actually buying one before I go home this next time just because. It's a relatively cheap investment for proof of what happened. I do not expect it to catch on in the US, but if you've never been to Russia, just trust me, there's always some weird stuff that happens. No matter where you are.

I've only been to Russia once, but I've flown into Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Plenty of weird there.

The National Cargo 747 crash this year, had probably one of the most aggressive stalls you could muster in an airplane that is being flown by coherent pilots, and they did so at a very low altitude, yet the aircraft certainly was nowhere near 90 degrees nose down.

It begs the question in my mind, was the crew able to control the airplane but lost SA? Not unheard of in that part of the world. Similar to Silk Air crash, only far more aggressive.

It's easy to speculate, and everyone does, I just find the attitude of the airplane baffling when you consider their already low proximity to the ground flying an approach.

There's either a total loss of control here or loss of situational awareness. The previous sentence being complete speculation at this point.

Yeah, but wasn't it said that that was because of the aft CG?

What seemed strange to me was that normally when you see a nose down crash the flame starts small and quickly mushrooms. Here it really looked like a massive explosion which was then followed by the big flame ball.

And also curious what the flash is just prior to contact - perhaps hitting a light pole or something.

Then again... the president's son was onboard..
