Airbus is getting rather nasty

If Boeing wanted to make some serious dough, they'd take the 787 technology and design and build a 757-sized airplane.
Why?

As I recall we killed the 57 as it wasn't selling well and the 737-900ER shared the same tube with the 757-200. In fact, prior to its death the decision was made to move that fuselage assembly to the Wichita plant (Spirit Aviation since the selloff) since it shared the same size as the largest 737 and could be moved via the rail line to Renton.

Curious how many of the people poo-pooing the Airbus have actually ever flown one? It's a nice machine. I like Boeing products.....but the Airbus is a very nice design as well. To say otherwise seems ignorant to me. ymmv

I've flown neither. But I know people that have flown both and the overall opinion doesn't really favor one machine over the other. I just thought that the idea of Airbus printing ads of this nature was bizarre.

It's like watching two special Olympians compete in a calculus contest. Lockheed.

the 75s going out on the used market don't stay there for long, and there really isn't another airplane that can do the same mission profile. True, the airbus and boeing stretches can come close, but not with the same range to make them viable for, say, transatlantic, except for a few niche routes.

As someone who spends quality time in coach, Airbus interiors are far superior to Boeings. Seats are wider and it's quieter.

As someone that has flown all three generations of the 74, my motto is "The 748, bringing the best of 90's technology to the '10's" I know the electronics are dumbed down for a common type on the 744. The pilot seats suck, the Outboard pedestal with the EFB is too wide and bangs your leg (Think about that happening for 6-8 hours a day), and the freighter upper deck layout must have been done by giving someone's kids all the pieces and crayons one night. For the record, I'd take a sidestick and a table everyday.

That being said, the 744 and 748 especially, make great sense for me collecting paychecks longterm. The 748 tookoff 6 tonnes overflight plan, after making the burn adjustments, we still under-burned the original flightplan.

Of course, this is not indication of one aircraft being safer than another, but interesting stats.

Yep, this thread is filled with ignorance.

Can't say I ever LOVED the 320 but I'll say that I've never flown an aircraft that I was able to consistently make better landings in. You could put that thing down so softly that you were not sure it was on the ground yet sometimes.

Airbus beats Boeing flight decks hands down in terms of comfort and ergonomics. As a passenger I'll take Airbus for comfort every time. Beyond those things, as a pilot give me a Boeing. I'm actually indifferent on the yoke v stick debate but I dig the simple overhead panel on the bus, the comfort of the seats, the massive windows, and the space. The fixed thrust levers are retarded (see what I did there?). I like the way you integrate with automation better on the Boeing and the feel of the airplane when you click the autopilot off. The Airbus is devoid of feel. That's not to say Boeing shouldn't swallow their pride and acknowledge some Airbus advantages.
