Aha! (ExpressJet) ceases operation

This industry is so strange to me. The last email from the union less than 2 weeks ago was all rainbows and unicorns.

Sadly not surprising. What an unceremonious end to a once great company. RIP ExpressJet

Strange they are shutting down for nearly the same reasons they stopped the original branded flying. Sorry for those folks left there.

Well shoot.

If there's one small sliver of silver lining, I hope the folks involved this time around had a better sense of the risks and chose to try it anyway. Rather than being completely surprised by management.

Also that now is a relatively good time to have to be looking for a job.

This is true. Prior 121 time is getting you to the front of the line at a lot of places.

Airlines really are a roll of the dice. That lesson was solidified in my mind by a guy hat I used to volunteer with. Dwight was a retired FedEx pilot. He wound up with pretty much the best airline job by virtue of sticking with Flying Tigers when everyone told him to go to Pan Am and make some real money. So yeah…

That’s like someone I know who’s father was perfectly content to retire on a mad dog for Reno Air………..Fast forward 20 years and he’s in the catbirds seat at AA. You truly never know.
