Aero Commander Captains - Central Air Southwest

i applied yesterday. got an email today asking what route i would be interested in. replied to that, and was told as soon as i get back in the country to give em a call to setup an interview :)

I saw the DAL run is DAL-AUS.

How many trips per night?

Here is the scoop on DAL.

Currently there are two pilots and two planes flying out of DAL, both full time. CASW likes to keep 3 pilots in DAL with one flying full time and the two others flying part time. So, if you went to DAL, chances are you would only be flying three days a week...initially.

That all is subject to change here very soon as one of the current pilots (and a good friend of mine) is looking to leave in the near future, so you would be bumped to full time status. Clear as mud??

As for the DAL - AUS run schedule...it is roughly like this.

DAL - AUS leave at 6 am
AUS - DAL return at 6 pm

However, Mondays are double days...

DAL - AUS leave at 6 am
AUS - DAL leave at 3 pm
DAL - AUS deadhead back immediately
AUS - DAL leave at 6 pm

And Fridays are...

DAL - AUS leave at 6 am
AUS - DAL leave at 8 pm

Basically, days are spent at the airport in AUS unless weather is going to have you late, then you might get a hotel room.

If you are interested, let me know and I can try and hook you up with an observation flight.

If you want, PM me your info and I will pass it along to my friend and try and get you an observation flight set up.

From what I have heard, MEM will be open for a bit longer. Seems the pilot flying with Murray was supposed to be going to MEM when he finished.

How is the accident affecting the business so far? Have they temporarily ceased operations? Was Murry one of the training pilots?

I am in the process of updating my logbook and will be getting my application over in a couple of days.

From what I could tell after talking to a couple of pilots and JT yesterday, it is going to be "business as usual", or about as usual as you can get without your DO.

As far as I know, there is no stoppage of operations, but I don't know about the training. To answer you question, yes, Murray was one of the main training pilots and the main check airman for the company. I don't think anybody knows how this will affect Central down the road though.

One foot in front of the other. I flew my route last night, just like always. Same tonight, and swapping airplanes with the ATL route tomorrow morning for maintenance. It's hard to say how things will go in the coming weeks. It will take at least that long to determing how far-reaching Murray's loss will go. Everyone is absolutely stunned...devastated.

The last posting I saw (and put here) listed HOU as a base. I did some digging and asked one of my friends who flies out of DAL about it, and it seems that is a totally new base and new route. Kind of curious as to what will be flown and to where it will go.

Are there any openings in the STL area? 121 outlook is not so good. I may need a new job soon (you never know), and I'm considering freight.

Is the SIC program a PFT/PFJ only? I received the SIC packet and it is not completely descriptive of the process.
