Aero Commander Captains - Central Air Southwest

I am trying hard to get on with you guys. I'm hoping some of those bases in open up soon. I'm trying to get in the missouri or oklahoma area.

UPDATE:

CASW is still looking for someone to fly from MEM and now FTY.

May 25, 2008

Central Air Southwest is interviewing for our FTY Atlanta GA and MEM Memphis TN bases. FAR 135 PIC IFR minimums required and have 50 hours of multi time. If you do not have the multi time we can help you obtain this time to fly for us PIC. Probation pay is $2000 for 3 months, then $2400-2800/mo plus benefits and bonus. Probation can be waived for pilots with with prior 121 or 135 multi experience
.

Not MEM, got an email yesterday saying that only one spot left in ATL.

If anyone wants MEM, just keep an eye on it. In the past couple of years, I probably stayed there the longest (9 months). For some reason, Memphis has a fairly high turnover rate.

I think I got an interview coming up soon with them. Anyone know what I should expect? Sim, test, ect.?

(pardon me while I pick myself up off the floor)

Okay...serious now...

I am not sure how things are now, but my "interview" was a 20 minute phone conversation with JT...in my car...in a parking lot...400 miles from KC. Didn't see KC until I flew up on a Friday night (on the MEM-MKC route) for training.

But that was me...

Not exactly sure how they are running things now, or if AT is doing the interviews rather than JT. However, I would be prepared to take an exam, fly a sim, and answer questions. Outside of that, I really can't help you other than a test will more than likely be over basic part 91 stuff, IFR material (rules and procedures). They do have a FTD set up like the AC500...nothing special...fly it like you would any other sim...if they even show you it at all. I personally have only seen the thing, and never "flew" it at all (all my training was in the real thing).

Treat it like you would treat any other interview. If you are prepared for the worst, you should do just fine. Biggest advice is to relax...JT is a really nice guy to talk with and work for.

UPDATE #3:

Latest openings for CASW appear to be Dallas (Love), St. Louis (Downtown), Atlanta (Fulton County), and Houston (Hobby).

June 21, 2008

Central Air Southwest has opening coming up at our DAL base, CPS base, FTY base and HOU base. FAR 135 PIC IFR minimums required and have 50 hours of multi time. If you do not have the multi time we can help you obtain this time to fly for us PIC. Probation pay is $2000/mo for 3 months, then $2400-2800/mo plus per diem, benefits and bonus. Probation can be waived for pilots with with prior 121 or 135 experience.

Is there any sort of training contract or is that taken care of with the probationary months? Do you know what the CPS route is like? Hours? Thanks...

I looked at the runs on Flightaware. Just look the airport up and find the aero commander.

I found a few Aero Commander flights but it comes up under John D. Towner or something like that. Is that it?

When I was there, the "contract" (if you want to call it that) was basically a hand shake agreement with JT to fly for him at least 6 months.

As far as CPS is concerned...
1) As suggested, look at flightaware
2) If I remember correctly, one goes to MDW, one to PIA, and another over to MKC

Most of the flights as CASW average between 3-5 hours a day/night, with the majority of the flying done on the back side of the clock.

Yep...that's them. JT owns the company and the airplanes.

Oh, and one more thing about the "contract"...

If you fly for JT for at least 6 months...

And you meet the requirements for the ATP...

And want your ATP...

A Commander can be made available to you for your checkride.

You should. Might take a few days, just really depends on how busy JT currently is.

If you have any questions at all...ask away.
