Okay...to ask a question...I have heard this mentioned for several months now on the board so I must now ask. What is a V1 cut?

It is Google, but here you go:

V1 cut Engine failure at or above V1 with continued take-off

and if it helps....V1
V1 Take-off decision speed; the minimum speed in the take-off, following a failure of the critical engine, at which the pilot can continue the take-off and achieve the required height above the take-off surface within the take-off distance.

You mean when you don't touch an aircraft for three weeks and haven't gone to sim training yet?

EXACTY Doug - someone here has obviously not been an airpline pilot!

Those are old definitions. V1 is no longer considered a "decision" speed because at that speed there is no decision - you go!

The new term is "takeoff safety speed."

respect

I am speechless.... is this topic for real? i laughed and read on expecting to see someone get flamed ... until halfway through and then i got scared.

Supercell.... I honestly don’t know how you are expecting to be received by your co-workers when you eventually do get a job. if you decide to go this route ... and you were completely honest with your co-workers about how you "worked" your way into your position... they would laugh. Aviation as a whole is like one big dysfunctional family... pilots are especially close and are known for having fun and joking with one another. i am afraid people wont be laughing with you as much as they will be laughing at you. it seems you are trying to buy respect or experience and few will take you seriously. The PFT programs will take your money and promise you a lot of things... but they are also eating away at the profession. If you love to fly or just aviation in general ... have some self respect and earn your way into the right seat. From the dozens of professionals who have already answered your question as politely as possible (I was expecting to see some fireworks) ... take their word on it that the experience gained from doing it the harder way is well worth the effort and added satisfaction.

just my two cents.

P.S. I still think this is someone just messing around... if not .... good luck
