I agree with you, I also went to a two year community college before transferring to Texas Tech. Still four years and out the door, but a lot cheaper. But also this depends on your own aviation goals and college as there are places which you can do both.

Picking a college is a lot like picking a flight school. I think the most important thing is to factor in all the non-subjective metrics.......

But what are the specific parameters of that subjectivity? If they are not defined, there is no relation between the subject or the metrics involved!
