Piss and vinegar is great, but if you can't find a way to direct it, then you'll just end up spending your life spinning your wheels.
Or working for CBP.
Same thing, really.

until something happens or you miss the wave and the upgrade stops and you are stuck for 6 years as an FO
Did I mention the raises stop at year 4 for the FO?
Do whatever you want, but every "quick upgrade" regional goes from a year to several years at the drop of a hat.
I've flown with captain who had guys in their new hire class upgrade in 11 months, and they took 6 years. They just happened to not quite make that cut when upgrades stopped.
Money aside, would you rather be the plug and not exactly work very much at high pay rate, or hold a great FO line and get a little less?
The one captain I'm talking about with the 6 year upgrade said he isn't even 1000 hours behind his classmate on tpic because for those 5 years we were so bloated with staffing the reserves hardly got used.
Just another point of view, carry on.
Hell, even if Eagle did bow down, the jets would have probably left a few months later.
The same guys who may be gloating on Facebook about their newfound glory will be demanded to drop their contractual cash and prizes else the jets will go elsewhere.
AMR has already proven, by the way Delta handled DCI, that if you keep moving equipment around, you keep your costs low. I'm not saying it's right, but we keep seeing the same "Lucy, Charlie Brown and the football" trick time and time again.
Don't gloat on the way up, because you'll certainly see those same people on the way down when you'll need a hand.
"Compass! Two year upgrade!"Today's great regional, will be tomorrow's turd regional, and vice versa. Always has been, always will be. And the cycle will continue.

To add to that, the stuff I see on the various Facebook pages is an absolute embarrassment. Just complete childishness and it makes me want to distance myself further away from these people. I'm not just talking about the individuals who are embracing what is happening to PSA and Eagle, but the guys who are trying to essentially blackmail those individuals. Talking about taking memes from profile pictures, spreading names around, and making threats about jumpseat denials (empty threats I hope). Just complete and utter embarrassment.
This week it's PSA, next week it's PDT. When does it end? In 6 months it could be Air Wisconsin.
Time to put some 4chan talents to use.Social media is the antithesis of seeking understanding. Y'all should have a peek at some of the "secret" pilot wives groups. You know, we're all on 4 day vacations!

Yeah, because that's why I was awake in Redding at 0345 last Sunday. The pilot wives groups are not secret groups. They're just closed groups to those who are not pilot wives. Very common for most catered Facebook groups just like Delta Pilots Facebook group or CrewLife groups where ya know, we're all on 4 day vacations while you're gone![]()

I'm on another Facebook hiatus. I've decided (for now, until if can't quit anymore) that the internet is a cesspool of humanity, and social media is a pool party clad with middle school level intelligence and understanding of other people's lives.

You are correct, sir.
It was so much nicer when it was primarily those that at least had the super-based skillz to conduct a directory listing using command line.

Oh you mean the wife who works three jobs to support her pilot husband who has huge school loans and who used her tax refund to pay for special medical testing for him. It revealed a need for a 4 month loa (no disability insurance) and a highly restricted diet. He just returned to work and she spent days preparing special foods for him during breaks from her three jobs.
Perhaps you refer to to wife of a Delta CA who is in stage 4 cancer while he is having affairs. He keeps telling her he's cutting her off health insurance and throwing her and their 17 year old daughter out so she can die faster.
Or perhaps the wife of a United whale pilot who discovered that his 26 year old daughter (that she cares for as if she was her natural daughter along with his 15 year old who is a paraplegic) is a heroin addict. She has spent over a week, taking off from work, trying to get her treatment while the pilot is on a trip and wonders why the daughter can't just drive herself to therapy.
There are many more examples of what gets shared on the boards by some incredibly strong and talented women who fight everyday to maintain a stabile and happy home. But I am tired and have to call my almost (because no one is) perfect husband who left the house at 4AM for a hard three day trip.
Is there a support group for that?Yeah, but at "Husbands of mid-level Process Design Consultants", I heard….![]()
