A good Trump deal

See my earlier post.

The only thing most people know about the Bradley came from a bad comedy based off the rambling memoirs of a self aggrandizing liar. Which is unfortunate considering it has been arguably the most successful and effective armored vehicle in the history the US Army.

I just thought it was a funny movie so I threw out a line from it, as far as costs and budgets are concerned there will be creep whenever any project of any type is undertaken.

:)

There is a lot of misunderstanding of DoD contracts going on here. Fixed price plus fee is pretty normal in the industry. There are a couple macro level problems that get us here, that have affected many other programs too.

1) The acquisitions system rewards the most unrealistic bids, as long as they are the lowest. There is little to no actual intelligent analysis done on the DoD side about whether a bid is even feasible. I mean, certainly there is some, but this contract type means it almost doesn't matter.

2) Contractors are forced to fudge numbers or outright lie about their anticipated costs if they want to win a contract. It is more complicated than that, but this is a major theme.

In the end, anything costs what it ends up costing. But we just play pretend for years until the true cost reveals itself, and the program is X amount of days/months/years behind schedule. Name any major program of record in the last 20-30 years, and this will largely hold true.

Which is to also say that the DoD is always eager to spend billions to save millions in total costs.

I can't honestly speak to defense acquisition processes - I'm not that familiar with them, although everyone tells me they're broken.

That said, in the private sector, I've been screaming into the void for more than 10 years that the entire RFP process is stupid, insipid, broken, corrupt, and most of all, incredibly wasteful. RFPs should go the way of the dinosaurs. They suck. So badly. They suck more than business people who say, "Let's iterate!" and make me want to punch them a lot. Hard. In the mouth. With brass knuckles.

Ok….

Before anybody posts the highly entertaining but completely BS video from Pentagon Wars….

Here is an entertaining take on how false the argument most make about the Bradley and it’s development.

I was a 113 guy fresh out of Fort Polk. I still love my "track."

For all the irrational crazy about troops being burned by a hull fire people talk of the Brad, they sure as hell don’t see how regularly all the 113 family vehicles we still have catch fire…

“1800 AMB at the Div TOC, it’s the series of tents to the left of the Battery Command post, you can’t miss it, because it is marked by the vehicle fire and burned out 113.”

I really hope Trump runs and gets the 2024 GOP nomination.

It would be an easy win for the Democrats
I’m very fascinated at the outcome of 2024. The countries direction could historically change. If trump would have been re elected, he would have had us pull out of NATO. Imagine the Ukraine war with no USA backing.

Imagine. Such a popular word these days, completely without merit yet hoisted up as the truth. Go to Starbucks and get a coffee with your imagination. I abhor Starbucks, the Mobil down the street has pretty good coffee and I pay $1.25 to refill my cup. The best part is I don't wait in line and I'm in and out and back on the road in approximately 3 minutes max.

Used to be assigned an M577 track back in my days as a FAC for myself and my TACP team, since our supported unit was a mech infantry unit. Still have it on my USAF drivers license under the 113 series.

I hope you know that there are still a lot of people that appreciate everything you have done and what you are still doing.
