9L, 9E, XJ JCBA executive summary

Yeah, walter sobchak, you do have a point. 9L is lucky that pinnacle corp bought us. However, 26.50 for a second year fo, having two separate pay scales for flying the same equipment, creating a situation where an fo could be making only a hair less than the captain on the same plane, and discriminating against 9L saab outstation pilots is hardly industry leading. But you do bring up a good point, 9L is lucky that pinnacle corp bought us.

Saab: I will ask you the same thing I asked Jryguy.

What is missing from the TA and what would YOU be willing to give up to get what you want?

Um, hey walter sobchalk, I hope you realize that there are a lot of people at mesaba who would still be on furlough if it wern't for colgan needing pilots - hence the reason I didn't go to mesaba in the first place. I think a lot of these mesaba guys need to realize how lucky they are that pinnacle corp purchased their airline.

I hope you realize your Q's were paid for by 9E... No need to thank us... ;)

You're moaning about $26.50 at 2nd year on the Saab? Do you know what current 9E second year pay is on the 200?

Furloughed Mesaba pilots went to Colgan? Hmmmmmm I seem to recall an LOA to bring furoughed Mesaba pilots to Pinnacle. You probably want to get out from under that huge rock you've been hiding under, eventually.

He is correct. There are furloughed Mesaba pilots at Colgan. There was an LOA for Pinnacle and Colgan.

There's quite a few furloughed mesaba guys/gals at colgan. There are 2 in my crashpad alone in EWR.

I think what he means is that's only a .50 cent raise for him over current 2nd year saab rates ($26)

The 50 cent raise isn't even close to what I had expected before the ta came out. However, there are some things that I do like about the ta like increased deadhead pay, the ability to refuse junior man assignments, and increased vacation. However, I would be willing to give up all of that and more for increased pay rates. All in all though, this ta is more than likely going to pass and the pilots in all 3 carriers are going to see substantial improvements to our QOL because of it. I'll be enjoying my extra vacation days.

Ok what what kind of pay rate do you think you can get by giving up those three things?

The Mesaba FO payrate is a blend of Avro and Saab. Mesaba FO's have a CAREER EXPECTATION of atleast that payscale even if displaced to the Saab from the Crj900. They cannot go backwards in order to pass this contract. However to put money else where to make the contract better over all(i.e. bring up the Q rates) they needed to split the rates and realocate some of the total money. The contrct only has so much money to give out. Colgan FO's on the Saab have a CAREER EXPECTATION of their current rates and are getting a raise(all be it small in year 2). Blame your own pilot group for voting down ALPA before the Q's arrived and accepting to fly them for such low rates. Sorry the contract can only bring so many things up at once(training, scheduling, compensation, vacation, scope, hours of service, grievances, retirement, etc) . Stop fixating on the pay rates and either bid out of BFE or vote No.

Colgan has never had Avro's. Colgan has never had any RJ. Colgan has never had an aircraft over 70,000lbs. All of which the Mesaba FO rates are partly based. So why out of the goodness of their heart would the company pay every one for that? Why would the union fight for that and take less else where when that is not a CAREER EXPECTATION?

Whaaaaaaaat? What do you think a realistic increase is? So being at 30 in yr 3, 34 in yr 4, doesn't do anything for you? Hopefully by year 4 you could bid to a different plane.

So what your saying is you would make the entire 100% of the pilot group lose things so YOU could have a 500-100 dollar a year raise that would benefit <5% of the pilot group. ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME

I would vote yes even if the Saab CA rates all went to the new rates. Scope and work rules are worth a few hundred bucks a year to me and you only have a RAISE to complain about.

Scope is worth the value of your job and being able to keep it and work rules are worth how much you want to stay at the job that scope protects.

374 pages!!!! I haven't read that many pages in my whole life, that is an automatic NO!!!!!

:sarcasm:....except the part about having never read that many pages :bandit:

I still can't believe that people are complaining about 2nd yr FO pay.

The ONLY real pay raise you're going to get is when you upgrade, and that will only happen if the planes/flying hasn't been sold/shipped/whipsawed to another pilot group that is making $24/hr for 2nd year FO's.

Remember when 2nd year FO's made like... 23/hr? that was in 2007.

Take the job security, ALL the other benefits, and wait a few years for your real pay raise.

If you think Colgan would have had their own contract, you hopefully wouldn't continue to think that as you were in upgrade class... still without a decent contract. 5+years the guys at 9E went at it. What makes you think we would have been any different?

Vote no... then watch as Pinnacle moves everything to the messaba ticket, and you have no scope, integration language or anything else to protect you... Would messaba's contract be worth getting displaced, furloughed or otherwise?

Dont forget that when looking at your pay raise there is more to it then just the pay rate for your current years of service.

For example:

I am getting a $4 dollar per hour raise Feb 18th (tentative)
On my anniversary date later this year I will get another $2 dollars per hour
On December, a few months later, I will get another $2 dollars per hour

The initial $4 dollars is good but by the end of the year (less than 10 months after signing) it will be an $8 dollar an hour raise.
