9L, 9E, XJ JCBA executive summary

I don't get it. It was said earlier how because the saabs are being phased out that we shouldnt push for them to get equal rate since the saab guys will be in different equipment in a few years anyway. Why the colgan guys should accept having to wait a few years to reach parity is beyond me. We are going to lose out on thousands and thousands per pilot waiting for this magical day of parity.

No, you are gaining thousands and thousands per pilot compared to what we make now, and thanksfully the Mesaba guys didn't have to take a pay cut...... I wasn't too thrilled about this either, but I talked to Seggy, and our reps, and did my homework. And by that I mean I picked up a phone instead of arguing with people on Jetcareers. I learned a lot, and I'm glad that no Mesaba guys had to take a paycut on the Saab. Look at the big picture....

Yeah, I did.....all is well with us, unless you don't want it to be that way?

Oh, ok didn't know.. Generally when someone apologizes to another and the other blows him off it means something..

Sure, we're cool..

You must be in yul...... I'm so sorry! I hate that industrial area we are in and the crowne plaza internet sucks

EXACTLY! And, I get to spend 21+ hours there Christmas night. I'm sooo psyched! :sarcasm:

Hmm... yeah I got 17 hours there next week. Last week the bar was closed for a private party. I attended, it had good looking ladies. Walk across the bridge, and that huge steakhouse/restaraunt across the street is pretty decent..... Also a good pub down the street on the other side on the way to the airport. Before u get to the strip club :) Other than that nothing is there, but at least it's better than the old quality inn...... And I ask for a room in the middle of the hotel, the internet signal is better there. Nasty people at the front desk though, its ashame because most canadians are nice...

Oh, hell. World's coming to an end when 9E and XJ guys are on the same page and two steps away from a group hug. :)

We might know much, but when we see a good deal we both acknowledge it! At this point I think we realize this deal is good enough there won't/shouldn't be 9E, 9L, XJ guys, it will all be one and the same.

I dunno man... The probationary FO's seem to think this is a raw deal..

Just based on the fact that one alpa pilot working for the SAME company is making more money on the SAME equipment is wrong wrong wrong.

You know this is not something new? Eagle has a hand full of pilots that are on different pay then the rest of the pilot group and the same with Horizon.

To add to this point.... I would like to compare Pinnacle Holdings to a sick child... sometimes a person has to swallow a bitter pill to make the "sickness" go away. This is just the initial step in getting better... I would ask that everyone read the summary in its entirety before commenting or forming an opinion. I know people are focused on the payrates because they don't like it but if thats the only section that you don't like is it enough to vote this down? Personally I haven't made my opinion one way or the other and I have heard some compelling arguments from both sides. I think in the end doing what is best for the pilot group (and those to follow in our footsteps) as a whole supercedes voting simply for my own personal interest.

I hate to quote myself but someone ask me to expand a little bit on this post.

Horizon is the easy one, there you are paid on what you can hold so a dash pilot that can hold the jet will be paid the jet rate. So you have pilots flying the same plane for different rates.

Now for Eagle, we have different rates for the 50/44/37 seat planes on the CA side. But a few are grandfathered into the 50 seat rate even if they fly the 44 or 37 seat planes.

Here is the part from letter 30 (signed in 1999) in the Eagle CBA that talks about it.

D. GRANDFATHERED EMJ COMMUTER JET (“CJ”) CAPTAINS
1. Notwithstanding any other provisions of this Letter, pilots awarded
an EMJ CJ Captain status prior to the posting of the first mixed
EMJ145/EMJ135 vacancy bid posting, or ninety days prior to
commencement of revenue service of the EMJ135, whichever is
later, will be grandfathered at the applicable 50-59 seat turbojet
hourly rate of pay, as set forth in the Basic Agreement, for all
purposes so long as such pilots continue to hold EMJ CJ Captain
status, uninterrupted, from the date they are grandfathered under
this provision.

It may be in the best interest of everyone to vote yes. You have to admit though, for us Colgan guys, it is a bit hard to stomach. I think the majority of Colgan pilots will vote yes, but we might throw up a little bit when doing so. I think a little more respect and consideration for this fact would go a long way.

+1. it is an emotional issue and should be treated with delicately. For me, it has nothing to do with money, it has everything to do with respect for what we have done, and what we deserve as the professional pilots that we have proven over and over to be despite this management team and very very tough working conditions. We are a grand total of what? 170 out of 3000 pilots? Would it really break the bank to give us 4 dollars an hr to keep parity with a smaller and less profitable airplane and have us feel respected for what we contributed and continue to contribute? My thoughts only folks.

I do humbly request we all maintain a respectful tone with eachother. our MEC has some fine gentlemen/women that give enormous amounts of their personal time to try and better our situation. I know most of them personally and have the utmost respect for them, even in disagreement.

1. I ONLY stay in YUL next month, twice per week....EVERY week...I just gagged.

II. I like Christmas cookies. I just had some that my wife packed from home. I think my favorites are the peanut butter and chocolate squares. After that there are some real nice toffee ones. I am not a big fan of sugar cookies.

C. I just realized that I only know who two of the CJC guys are here on JC...Seggy and Cruise.

As a Q ca, I thought I'd break into why I'm not "too" worried about the Q rates as a colgan guy. I have a family +1, the new insurance is over $200 cheaper per month. Mix in the LTD, STD, and I am saving pretty close to 300/month.

I bid, and fly stand up lines that normally credit me 35 hours. 4 hr min day pay takes me up to nearly 84 hrs ( assuming min day pay is based of calendar days, a 3 day stand up/highspeed puts you out of domicile 5 days technically)

That works out to roughly $900 dollars MORE in my pocket each month... If we were to give up those parts of the contract to cover an increase in pay, we would need an additional $12/hr added to our pay check to cover those "soft" items. Am I really that worried about an extra $2.00/hr for my type/seat? no. I'll take the total package, because it's worth a lot more to me year in, and year out.
How about a 401k match for Colgan pilots now? that like having the company toss in 150 bones a month to your retirement savings.

I am miffed about these junior guys that are so upset about their lack of pay raise. These guys seem to be the ones hire within the last 2 years, right after the FO's went to the combined pay rates, got a LARGE second year pay raise while the rest of the pilots on property got nothing. Colgan SF3 FO's were making more 2nd year in straight up pay rate than 9E CRJ2 FO's. Ex[ecting a 20% raise for that level just wasn't worth it.. and honestly I don't want my Union to spend time fighting for payscales on an airframe that is likely going away in the next 5 years.

I think everyone needs to chill out about the pay rates until they see the full language.
