9E/9L/XJ Tentative Agreement Reached 12/17/2010

Well, my initial response to you is "This ain't no turboprop, son!" but I won't say that because every turboprop I've flown was harder to fly than the mighty ClimbRestrictedJet..

Take a look at the SF340 Electrical schematic. It looks like the inside of a B&W TV made in the 60's.

I don't know what they make them do now but when I went through, we had to know that crap stone cold. At least they made it seem that way in ground school. I thought I was in the mechanic new hire class.

I'm not sure what the inside of a BW TV from the 1960's.. I'd imagine it'd pretty simplistic? If you're looking for a complex electrical system, I'd suggest reading up on the British Aerospace Jetstream 31/32 setup.. :)

When we finally got the Saab's all the guys who went to it loved how simple it was compared to the J-Ball..

I think, what you are going to find, is that the Saab or a 1960 TV can be as complicated as you want to make it. Mesaba's old training program was of the "launching rocket" model. The Saab is a fairly complicated turboprop, it doesn't have to be for operation, but you can absolutely turn it into a headache. It has the dubious honor of being over engineered and underpowered. The over engineered part can be more than enough information to overwhelm any pilot, the same can be said on many airplanes.

Yeh, we had to learn to launch the rocket in the JBall.. It was such a bigger headache than the CRJ..

That's just because no one wants to make the CRJ complicated. "It flies itself!"

Oh, but the company tries. Just look at our new CFM re-write. I can already see places where a revision is gonna be necessary. And let's change de-icing procedures on an annual basis while we're at it. Can't wait to hear all the grumbling about the new checklist changes, too.

Haven't seen the CFM re-write, but our tech pub department isn't the best in the navy either. I will say Mesaba guys are a little shocked in the pinnacle training dept about some of the culture differences, so we have some issues to work through there. I think you've had comments before about "Well that's a Captain thing, you don't worry about it."

Anyway, I made it through the exec summary last night, and I only have about 5 questions. A lot of it seems straight forward, and mostly ok. Was a little sorry to see so little for our side but the neo-snapbacks are better, the pay (soft and hard) will be better, and I like what I've seen on the scope.

Just a few days until I go to these WORTHLESS Pinnacle pass "benefits". Is it too late to trade them in and just get a recip jumpseat agreement, turn that giveback into some more hard pay?
