Well, yes and no... the talk of cancelling the program hasn't been coming from Boeing, it is coming from a.nutters who are conspiracy theorists and if you listened to them they'd have you believe that Boeing is deleting the design files and shuttering the program.

Not everyone who talks about things that go against what people think is the norm makes them conspiracy theorists. Here is something interesting you may not know about. I will warn that if this is your first time being exposed to it, and especially as a pilot you if you don't have an open mind, then you will unfortunately always believe your government and never critically think for yourself.
Take this. Flight 77 hit the pentagon. There is a nice convenient NTSB animation that shows it. Here are just a few of the major problems with that. I'll only give you 5 just to get your started.
1. Current 757 pilots and simulator instructors, ie guys with so much time and experience in the plane its stupid, cannot for the life of them in a full motion sim recreate what some supposed moron with no experience in his life could do.
2. What the NTSB animation shows defies the limitations of the aircraft. At the speeds it was traveling it was basically to the point of being totally uncontrollable. The wings and airframe would begin to experience major structural issues and eventually fail.
3. Jet engines are made with titanium and other materials designed to withstand thousands of degrees during its normal operation. So how is it that both extremely large jet engines just disintegrate and there is no trace of them anywhere? The ensuing fire after a crash certainly is not going to do that to them as this is a temperature much lower than what they are designed to withstand during their normal operation of sucking, squeezing, banging and blowing. When looking at past accidents its extremely rare that you don't at least see large engines somewhat intact while of course the airframe would be pretty beat up.
4. The black boxes are supposedly damaged. How does that happen? Besides them being underwater for too long when, in recent memory, have the black boxes, which are designed to withstand so much force its insane, not work?
5. Sure the news says people "saw" Flight 77, but why is it that ever local business with an outdoor CCTV camera that saw what unfolded have their footage confiscated by the FBI within 30-45 minutes of the event happening. We all saw planes hit the WTC on video why would you confiscate video footage of one hitting the Pentagon? Why threaten the lives of normal citizens who saw the surveillance tapes?
Im not trying to hijack (no pun intended) this thread, but this is a topic/subject that I think JC needs to get on and discuss. Not everyone is a conspiracy theorists. When your government concludes an investigation into the biggest travesty this country has ever faced like its no big deal and never mentions any of the above or anything that might go outside of the "script" I myself and others have real issues with that.
You might be surprised that there is a major group of professional pilots called "Pilots for 9/11 Truth" out there today. Last I checked the tens of thousands of professional airline pilots who are members are not retarded wack jobs. Hopefully we can get some interesting discussions going about this.
