When production of the 757 model ended in late 2003. People on this board and a few other pilots that I know told me not to worry that the plane will still be around for years to come.
Well, boy were they wrong. The 757 seems to be on the fast track out of the airlines. Even before FDX announced they wanted 757 in their fleet on this and many other aviation boards indivduals were calling for the 757's head.
Saying it was old and not fuel effiecent, blah, blah, blah. And that airlines with them needed to get rid of them and purchase newer 787's,A350's or NG737's. British Airways got rid of all their 757's years ago giving them to DHL to be converted into freighters. That seems almost to signal the end of the beginning of the end as far airline service.
So what gives why is everyone hating on my fav the 757?
Rumot: I hear that DAL is going to be giving up most of their older 75's to FDX while still retaining their newer models. You know striking while the market is rich for that type. Also further speculation that AA is going to get rid of all 150 of their 757 (to FDX again) and replace it with the A320!
