737 Max rolls out

It never gets old.

Had a 737 pilot riding in the JS today, complaining about the noise on our plane. Never been up front on a 73 to compare though and I didn't even think twice about it, I just figured, welp yeah it's an embraer it isn't the most sophisticated thing out there. Commuters, is the 737 louder than the 145? I'm just used to it, rocking the bose but I don't turn them on bc imo the white noise is terrible.
I thought I was the only one that felt bothered by the noise.

The 737 probably isn't that loud in the grand scheme of things, but it does seem stupid loud for a jet though!

It's hard to find a cockpit that's louder than the 135/140/145. The 737 is up there, but I don't think it beats those Embraers. Now the 175/190 is much quieter.

Yeah I've commuted on the 175 before, never the 73, I'm so acclimated to the 145 I don't know better

I'm just curious but what's the noise level like in the maddog up front? As a passenger the wind noise seems incredibly loud, wasn't sure if it was different up front.

I still personally find it loud enough to wear my headset most of the time on the 175, but you're also talking to a guy that wears hearing protection on BART, so yeah.

You wear hearing protection on BART?! I can't call you a city boy at all!

Damn thing is louder than the airplane. I don't mind the propulsion noise itself, but the track noise is positively awful in certain parts of the system, especially on a few places I travel to/from work on - the Montgomery interlocking, all places with a curve south of Daly City, and over the Contra Costa County crossover.

BART is wicked loud.

BART is wicked loud.
*hella loud.

It's literally falling apart, something that the disruptors™ who hate paying for it and yet depend on it to get to/from Disrupt, Inc., ignore on the regular. New cars are coming, but the wayside power and signalling equipment is shot (parts either refurb'ed in the shops or bought on eBay), and so on.
