Boeing 737 cargo plane crashes off Hawaii

The aircraft, a Boeing 737-200C, took off from runway 08R at HNL at 01:33 hours local time. After takeoff the flight reported engine issues and the flight crew initiated a turn back to the airport.
Unable to reach HNL, the aircraft was ditched at 01:45 hours.

Listen for Rhodes Express 810. Sounds like they lost number one, then it sounded like they said the other one was running a little hot and they thought they might lose that one too.
I thought Rhodes was dead and buried years ago, you know it’s bad when one of your chain-smoking, living in a van down by the river, feral MU-2 colleagues would go on and on about how bad it was flying Convairs for them and how much better we have it at this gig.

Bad jet fuel makes me wonder about diesel exhaust fluid getting mixed into the truck. It’s happened several times already and luckily the crews have been able to get back to a runway before they flameout all engines.

I would think those old stovepipe JT8Ds would run on whatever crap fuel you had, including old cooking grease.

If it’s bad fuel, it’s really bad fuel.
I thought a jet engine would run on anything except 3.2 beer.

Would there be any issues if they got JP8?
