560XL down in CT

Runway 3665’ x 75’

Wow, that is ugly. Looks is it’s just to to right of the centerline of R02.

I've flown in there a few times. Not the shortest runway but I wouldn't fly a jet in there.

It's all fine until it's not with a runway that short.

Doable in an excel, we used to fly a C650 in and out of a 4000' strip regularly, bleeds off takeoff, but it could do it. It wasn't like we were flying for 4 hours after we left. Usually it was an hour or 1.5 hour flight MAX. XL had better TO numbers...

Sad to hear.

What does being a jet have to do with it? Plenty of margin. Maybe. I guess we will see

Been a half a lifetime since I flew the XLS but that is pretty tight. That being said, they didn't overrun on takeoff. I wonder if they weren't configured properly and eventually stalled. Sadly this is the start of the process where we find out things about the crew and how they operated the plane...

So no tailwind.
Engine failure looks more likely.

Anyone know what the facility with all the piping is? Looks like something related to a natural gas pipeline. This is about halfway between the departure end of the runway and where the airplane came to rest. Would have been bad news had the airplane hit that.

I saw that too and assumed it was a water pump station, but you're right, might be gas.
