500 hour Riddle Grad

[ QUOTE ]
LOL like there's going to be a major airline hiring in the next ten years?

[/ QUOTE ]

Southwest, AirTran, ATA, Frontier, Spirit, USA3000, FedEx, UPS... just to name a few. Maybe some of the "legacy's" by year 9?

What the heck.. why not just collaberate and create our own start-up ... I'm sure we could have one helluva time doing that !!

Lol..

Ok I see what you mean, but I consider the Big Six as majors.

Delta, American, United, USAirways, Continental, Northwest

Yes those other LCCs count as "Majors" by passenger counts and revenue, but NOT when it comes to pilot pay.

I am very depressed that the pay rates are dropping again.

I had a student that finished up at riddle, she did an internship with one of the regionals while she was there. And she told me she would be offered an interview at 500TT/ 100ME. So if your friend did an internship maybe he/she could get an interview.

Well, John, if we all had our own definitions....

under the ACA internship you get an interview with 600/100 hours, but they aren't expecting to hire until 2006. I think ASA is the best at 350/75 if you do there internship. I know one guy at riddle who says he is suppose to interview this summer with the possibility of being hired in 2005. I think ASA is the best possibility.

And on the whole CFI thing, we had the President of American's union here at riddle a couple of months ago, and he said they prefer to hire civilian pilots who have a CFI, not sure if that means you should have instructed or if you just should have a CFI and not use it. I guess the falls under the idea that you remember more what you teach, meaning an acting CFI may have more knowledge then someone who is just flying charters.

Well, seeing how Southwest carries more passengers than US Airways......

The technical daffynition of a major is $1 billion in revenue. That figure really needs to be adjusted for inflation, but like you say, it is what it is.

So technically, JetBlue isn't a major because they "only" had $998 million in revenue last year. But they're hiring as well.

Major Plot pay? John, you working for Al Queda now? Need I turn you into Tom "Pensylvaniaaaaaaaaa" Ridge?

Did Daschle beat you up and take your lunch money when you were a kid, John? Baaaahhaha!

Your "friend' will soon walk out of his little fantasy world at Riddle and experience an awakening and harsh attitude adjustment when he steps into the real world. 500 hours doesn't amount to squat in this job market.

I'll probably get slammed for this but what is it with new Riddle graduates? They seem to have this entitlement mentality and that their a step above others when it comes to job offers.

I mean Major Pilot pay

Edited!

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually, ATA has higher pay than 4 of those airlines you mentioned. I believe... this is what I understand.

Hopefully regional internships aren't like White House internships.

The 500 hr Riddle grad is fully qualified for PFT. Or did they already do that?

Makes no difference. Pilots don't think highly of themselves anyway. They'll still jump at that flying job that pays beans, then gripe about the beans.

You'd better copyright that quick Mike else I'm going to find a way to make a million bucks off of that statement!

So TRUE!

If I only made $10,000 to do my current job and quit, there'd be 10,000 applications on file to do it for $9,999 and then some bozo would pop up and say "Hey, I'll even pay for my own training to fly that MD-88!"

And after all that, those 10000 bozos will STILL gripe that they don't make enough money.

CEOs of regionals LOVE pilots for this reason only. We defeat ourselves.
