500 hour Riddle Grad

Maybe a CFI gig if he/she has that certificate, or free flight time towing banners (eg no paycheck). Ferry flights in seminoles or cessnas.

Pretty much the job I had out of Riddle was the realization I should have stayed a bit longer and gotten my CFI!

If you are willing to go the Military route that is always a sure bet. I know it may be hard to get a pilot slot, but if you are willing it is always worth the shot. The ANG is great in that after you graduate from UPT you can do both civilian and Military stuff simultaneously. If you are not willing to take the Military route, you can always get your CFI. Not the most glamorous but you can work your way up.

This can be put into 2 categories:

1.) What they'll tell you- right seat of an RJ tomorrow
2.) Reality- CFI'ing, like everyone else says

Im not saying that the possibility of getting on with a regional is impossible, because they do interview/hire lower than minumum times.....its just that it is very tough....maybe you should send out resumes for CFI'ing jobs, but also for regionals, because if you are turned down, it is still at least a good thing you are in the system! (or thats the impression ive got, correct me please!)

Ferry flights in seminoles? Where do I sign up? To the 500 hour riddle grad, welcome to the bottom of the aviation totem pole. It sucks and I know cause I'm still in the same place!

Just get a somewhere as a CFI if you can find one.

None of the Embry Riddle CAPT Grads have or will have a CFI from the program. In Fact the ab initio grads do not even get their Commercial SEL, so they will have ot get that before they work on CFI. Also keep in mind these first grads form CAPT had 500 hours because they went into CAPT with many of their ratings already and about 400 hours. They only got about 90 hours or so from the program. The ab initio grads will only have about 350 Total Time and 250 PIC. And then will walk out the door and into the right seat of an RJ...

right...

Just talk to one they are totally sold they will not have tp built time after they graduate.

well i asked all of your opinions becuase my friend who goes to riddle thinks he will go out and fly for a corperate charter company after graduation without instructing , i tried to tell him but he, and many others at riddle think that im wrong when saying your gonna HAVE to instruct to build time.

Unless they can land one of the coveted internship programs and become a "golden child." Odds of even holding the GPA to be competitive in those programs are slim. ACA was their top internship program, but I think that's been put on hold with the whole Independence Air gig.

Your "friend' will soon walk out of his little fantasy world at Riddle and experience an awakening and harsh attitude adjustment when he steps into the real world. 500 hours doesn't amount to squat in this job market.

I'll probably get slammed for this but what is it with new Riddle graduates? They seem to have this entitlement mentality and that their a step above others when it comes to job offers.

"500 hrs? You're probably going to find out that you'll be living on a steady diet of government cheese and YER NOT GOING TO AMOUNT TO ... JACK SQUAT!!!"

hey i'll be a riddle grad next spring 2005. I have excepted my reality, and am currently working on my CFI, then working on my CFII and multi at the same time. Riddle is suppose to hire a bunch of instructors this summer because instructors are starting to move to the regionals. I have heard about 15 instructors left in the past 2 months. believe me i know i have to get my CFI to make a living. Unless you know someone with a kingair or something CFI i think is the only way to go.
