414 in the water off of San Diego

Launch out of Pt Mugu? Way up north of LA? Wonder why they didn’t just launch out of San Diego, or Navy out of North Island. The impact area is in the dip training sites offshore of NZY. I did see USCG small patrol boat and USBP patrol boat on scene.

What a creepy thing to listen to, no indication of what the issue was at all. Was it IFR?

Edit: looks like overcast 1500ish.... So seems like he got into the clouds and was immediately disoriented!?

Oof. Couple out of control turns. The first one nearly hit the water too…

It's weird....the name(Landon Baldwin) that's being reported as the pilot's doesn't appear in the FAA database. I found his Facebook with pictures of the crash airplane, but nothing comes back from the FAA in his name and nothing lines up using his last name in the state of AZ either.

Looks like there were three little kids onboard too, that sucks.

We had a Cirrus like that a couple months ago. Departed, checked in, climbed above the bases and immediately nose dived.
