2024 in Review...How Much Did You Fly?

115 flights. 175 hours. 48 nights out of my bed.

I do like six legs a month, max. And I’m running late because I’m teaching. BOOM, saved a buck! :)

They might still get me for another trip since I'm on reserve until the beginning of Jan, but I felt inspired today so here goes:

This marks my first year as a 121 Captain on the mighty ER after finishing IOE in January. It's been an absolute blast. Being so junior in seat I'm aware it can go away at any time, so I've been enjoying every moment. All year on reserve, and I actually like it, to the point that I'll probably keep doing it long after I'm forced to.

421hrs on the 757
79hrs on the 767
2hrs in the club 182 trying to stay current but giving up halfway through the year

Somehow managed 650 block of earning fun tickets which was kinda surprising. Thought it might be less this year, good thing I spent a third of it sleeping. Also got to see @Roger Roger @ASpilot2be and @Autothrust Blue along the way! Though @Screaming_Emu keeps hiding from me.

But the more important one which was how the fun tickets earned were spent; the non-rev map...

Hey, that run in made my day! As does any time I run across a friend in an airport.

100.9 hours on the 787 in 6 months, and 219.6 on the 737 in 5 months (One month in the school house). Only 83 flights this year and 39 landings.
The 787 was a lot of fun, but these last 5 months as a Captain on the 737 have been an absolute blast.

Flew tons of JS for LOSA too, but that's not included here.

320ish block, 1046 credit.

January 2025:
10 years since a scared kid in a tent who watched the life he tried to build crumble decided to finally find a way to make it to the sky; found a site called JetCareers, and took his first flight in a 172. 3620.0 hours and 40+ models later…immensely grateful.

Thank you ALL for helping me find my wings.

Yeah that actually has become my layover activity in PDX....I'm constantly bringing 3-4 big books home every time. It is a shame that they closed their "technical" bookstore annex a number of years ago. Was a couple blocks east down burnside IIRC, great place, tons of cool stuff. Though I guess that collection probably just got rolled back into the main store.

What’s the bookstore?
