I'll say it again the kid coulda done worse for himself. Sorry if I'm not as impressed to see a white kid from suburbia do the same. Besides it was more the media making an issue of the kids race more then the kids family, the kid or the flight instructor so your issue should be with the white national media and not the kid or his family.

Alright, my grandma worked 3 jobs and had four kids and both my parents were poor and from the trailer park. Where the hell are my props huh?

white national media
Wow...just wow.

BTW, the media didn't say anything about his race...only the instructor. Correction that last link from the white devil media did mention race several times...SCREW THE MAN!!!!!

And I knew that before now...? But call the media and them blame them for not reporting another low income white majority success story.

The point is I couldn't give a damn...using your racist reasoning I deserve something because I didn't come from a rich suburban family.

And he's also apparently the first person to solo a "Cessna 52".:whatever:

Hahaha...me racist. Now thats a good one...really.I would justify myself to you but eh I don't have to.

Are you now telling me that you have to be white and call yourself a racist to be racist?

You take the cake dude.

LOL...I'll agree to that only if you can tell me/show me where I said that or inferred it.

After you've said the things you've said, there is nothing you can tell me that would make me believe that you don't have racist tendencies...we are judged by our actions, not those beliefs we might profess.

Maybe I'm being prejudiced in thinking that were you to try and justify yourself you would say something to the tune of, "I'm black, therefore not racist.", or "I am black and a member of some Anti-Racist association.", or something else the effect of, "I believe or say x, therefore, there is no possible way that I can be racist."

And if you're going to say I'm wrong about my assumptions then you have to come up with an argument that you would have have used to justify your non-racist nature.

I think it's cool...kinda curious who pays for all this flight training, but it's always a good thing to help underprivileged kids, no matter what color.

My big beef, and I saw the instructor on Airline also, is take the damned bluetooth out of your ear. You look like a JA because of that more than anything else. He always has that thing in but turned off, from what I've seen. Go figure.

wait, did it say something about him being underprivileged? (not flaming you, just unsure if i missed it)

.

Not to be negative but:

Clear the sky... the last time someone tried something like this they crashed in a thundrstorm. 14 seems a little too young to me for a solo flight.

I'm really kinda baffled here dude. You can ask Doug,Lloyd,Sprint or Kelvin that I'm not racist. I see them at the same monthly black panthers,Nation of Islam meetings.

Seriously I haven't said anything that can be assumed as racist. Furthermore your assumptions about there being nothing that I could say to make you think me otherwise a racist only limits your understanding.

Look originally I just didn't feel like justifying anything to you. But I can say that my boyfriend is white and I have white and asian friends from Kristie,JH,Tony,ESF,DE727UPS and others from jobs and school.

The validity of your arguement that I'm racist is truly assinine, seeing as you have never met me and truly do not know me.

I think it did say something about the kids getting free flight training in the underprivileged areas of Compton in exchange for community service. I could be wrong, but I think they said that some place in there.

the kids in the program work at the airport and the fbo cleaning up, washing airplanes, janitorial duties and in exchange get flight instruction. they call it community service because the program is non profit and its giving back to the community. they get paid by the hour with money that goes into a flight account. they to get to fly at cost so their flight rates are much cheaper than any of ours because i could not imagine trying to pay regular price for a 30 hour trip in an R-44 by working at 6 dollars an hour, not to mention the 60 hours of training he already has under his belt

Look, I'm not racist but...

their aren't too many black aviators because of the insane ammount of money it cost to learn to fly. When I'm in an airport and see a black pilot I make sure I go and talk to them shake their had and let them know I appreciate what they do.

Sorry if I'm not as impressed to see a white kid from suburbia do the same

Making distinctions based on rae is RACISM, and that is exactly what you are doing. I don't care if you date a person of another ethnicity, are a minority, or say, "Some of my best friends are white!", if you make distinctions based on race YOU ARE SHOWING RACIST TENDENCIES!!!

[Furthermore your assumptions about there being nothing that I could say to make you think me otherwise a racist only limits your understanding./QUOTE]

No matter how much you disagree with me, me making a decision based on facts (The facts being those statements you made which are undeniably racist) does not make me a narrow-minded dolt. If you would like to look back over your statements and then grab a dictionary and look up "Racism", then come back to JC and admit you made a racist statement I would then say I was wrong about you.lol.

Is it a safe bet that you're not going to do that?:insane:

So, is it the FBO that funds this? Sounds like a good program to keep the kids out of trouble. I'm just hoping this isn't some government program using tax dollars to do this...glad I don't live in Cali, if it is. I'd be pretty pissed, no matter how good it is for the kids to be spending that much money. If it's the FBO, let me know which one and if/when I eventually make it out there, I'll make sure to stop in there and drop some money to help them out (not that I have that much money, but if/when in corporate aviation and if I get to ever decide where to go, that will definitely influence my decision).

Just like all these FBO's that treat us freight dawgs like dog poo, well, guess what...a ton of us freight dawgs will eventually be in those corporate airplanes they are always kissing the rear end of. I know I'll never use Signature SDF if I have an option!

Sorry about the rant! Back to your normal topic...

#### no I'm not going to go look in a dictionary to look up racism. I'm black...trust me when I say I know about racism.

Making distictions about race could also be called generalizing as well.

Furthermore...dude its a proven fact that there aren't many blacks in aviation due a number of reasons but not limited to not being educated about schlorships, financial aid, racism etc. available to them to pursue an education let alone learn to fly.

Thats why groups like OBAB (www.OBAP.org) exist to educate african-americans about aerospace careers, education and scholorships. Are you now going to say that OBAB is racist?

Lastly geez. Me makin a point to introduce myself to a black pilot and shake their hands in the airport is something of my own choice and not at all being racist. I look up to them and respect them as other black aviators who are in positions that I one day aspire to be. If you want to talk racism then research the Tuskegee Airman. Read about how whites said that blacks were stupid and didn't posess the mental cognitive ability to fly a plane and were cowards and would run from battles. Then also read how the Tuskegee airman NEVER lost a bomber escort in WWII that they were assigned.

Then read how those same black veterans of WWII came home and were still treated as ######s and not as heros like their fellow white soldiers.

If you want to question people on the site who may or maybe not be racist they live in Kansas and DFW and frequently spout of the word ###### or Jew this or jew that in chat.

Dear lord man someone back me up here!

:)

i have the link on post #1 of the tread. they dont get funding from the government but they do get tons of donations from big companies ly northrop grumman and south west.

Sorry Max, I'm gonna have to go with deserteaglle on this one. I think you're in denial of your "racist tendencies." It's not to say you're a racist, but some of the stuff you said did imply racism... but mostly stereotyping... eh, whatever.

I think we're all a lil' racist one way or another, but we just don't show it. I think most of us would enjoy it when someone makes something funny out of it (e.g., Chapelle Show, Family Guy, etc.). From Jan-June of this year I lived in an apt in LA with a white guy and a black girl..... and I'm hispanic (chicano, latino, mexican, whatever!). Anyway, we all had a good time making fun of each other and it was all fine cause it was funny! I can admit to making white and black jokes that were racist, but they were funny at the time. There was no disrespect intended. Hell, they bombed on me all the time anyway.

Anyway, I know you weren't trying to be humorous about any of this.... but I did see lil' "racist" remarks. That is... not all white kids come from nice suburbs. For all you know, you've shaken hands with professional black pilots who grew up in a 5 bedroom house while there's a white pilot next to him who grew up in a 2 bedroom apartment... know what I'm trying to say?..
