14 year old at my FBO broke 3 world records

Sorry Max, I'm gonna have to go with deserteaglle on this one. I think you're in denial of your "racist tendencies." It's not to say you're a racist, but some of the stuff you said did imply racism... but mostly stereotyping... eh, whatever.

I think we're all a lil' racist one way or another, but we just don't show it. I think most of us would enjoy it when someone makes something funny out of it (e.g., Chapelle Show, Family Guy, etc.). From Jan-June of this year I lived in an apt in LA with a white guy and a black girl..... and I'm hispanic (chicano, latino, mexican, whatever!). Anyway, we all had a good time making fun of each other and it was all fine cause it was funny! I can admit to making white and black jokes that were racist, but they were funny at the time. There was no disrespect intended. Hell, they bombed on me all the time anyway.

Anyway, I know you weren't trying to be humorous about any of this.... but I did see lil' "racist" remarks. That is... not all white kids come from a lil' suburbs...

Thanks for the post Greenday but I have to disagree. I'm not a racist. I would enjoy finding out what racist sentiments that I have displayed in this thread.

racist

rac·ist [ ráyssist ]

adjective Definition: 1. based on racism: based on prejudices and stereotypes related to race

2. prejudiced against other races: prejudiced against all people who belong to other races

noun (plural rac·ists)Definition: racist person: somebody who hates others who are not of his or her own race

Help please...

First of all, I don't think Max is racist.

Second, those of you who accuse him of being racist are incapable (or don't want to) of doing an analytical interpretation of the history of this country, in regard to the causes of the present socio-economic conditions of many of it's black citizens.

Poverty among blacks is almost double than that among whites. Is this because of race?, of course not!! a black child, and white child raised in the same conditions will have a similar development, saying the contrary would be RACIST!!

Now I'm going to ask the same question again:

Poverty among blacks is almost double than that among whites. Is this because of race?, of course YES!!, because the white man, for many many many years have stopped the advancement of black people in many many ways.

For the love of God, have you guys, "Desert Eagle" and the others, study anything about the civil rights movement, do you know than less than forty years ago, black men were being lynched in the south, women raped, and that the perpetrators wouldn't even go to jail.
You think they could get a decent education, brake the cycle of poverty and marginalization that perpetuates it self to this day.
Do you realize that if you were black you would have more chances of being poor, in jail, or dead.
So it looks after all that race is an issue, specially if your born with a darker skin.

Don't you think that the white men has an historical debt with the black men in this country.

Don't tell me that "Affirmative action" or pointing out the color of young pilot is racist or unnecessary.

The day that this country liberates it self of the consequences of hundred of years of oppression on the black man, then that day you come and talk to me about if we should still being positively racist.

Shut up. Deal with facts and not opinions and you'll never go wrong. You start spouting off your opinions that contradict facts and you look like an idiot.

Do you realize that if you were black you would have more chances of being poor, in jail, or dead.

You are taking a statistic stating that more blacks are in prison than whites and then saying they're in prison because they're black?!?!?!?!?!?!?

THEY'RE IN FU(%!NG PRISON BECAUSE THE BROKE THE FRIGGIN' LAW!!!

to all that think compton is the scariest place in the world and filled with tons of ghettos then i ask you to take a drive through there. the airport is in a fine location where not that much crime takes place. the fbo does a lot fo good for young people not only in compton but all over the los angeles area. and to all that think compton is filled with black gangs that go and shoot it up evey night think again, that would have to be the hispanic gangs since they are the ones that have the highest crime rate in the area (compton, lynwood, watts, unincorporated los angeles). who cares if he is black?! i think it is impressive nontheless that he is acomplishing this at such a young age and still does well in school. lets also not forget he was a well spoken young man and it looks as if he has a family that cares about him and encourages his dreams. for the instructor he looks like a wacko with that hair but i must applaud him for what he does with the youth in los angeles.

Listen kid, I'm only going to tell you once:

Is really ironic that you call me an idiot, when in your short history in this site, you have demonstrated that YOU are an idiot of majestic proportions.

Argue with you will be moronic (like you are) just because you are incapable of seeing more than three feet away from you.

And Desert Eagle when I say you are a moron, is not only a reaction to you calling me an idiot.

Is the content of your answer to my post that demonstrates the limits of you intelectual capability.

Blatant racism right there.

I don't think you're racist, but you have definitely said several racist things. I think you are more into stereotyping than racism though...

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/racism

Try posting the ENTIRE definition and not only that part that backs you up.

First of all I simply stated that I am black so I'm well aware of racism. I never said that I know about racism more then the next guy.

Look where were you in 99 when I got pulled over by the CVG airport police for "driving while black". Seriously its like they waited for me each night. Because one or two cars would follow me off airport property and when I say follow I mean bumber lenght distance. Thats called intimidation.

They pull me over search my car unprovacated and arrest me b.s. charges that the judge always through out. Then there was the time they tied to arrest me on driving on a suspended license. A former friend of mine knew my SSN which back in the day was your AZ DL number. Well when ever he got stopped he gave them my SSN. Of course the tickets weren't paid and my drivers license was suspended.

I was made aware of this by a CVG city police officer who stopped me for performing a "rolling stop" and gave me a warning. So my mom went to the court house and paid ALL my fines and mailed me a sheet signed by the judge confirming that my AZ licence was indeed valid oncce more.

Well one night the cops were playing their games at the airport and I showed them the form signed by the judge. They ripped it up in my face and arrested me saying that theyt didn't recognize a judge in AZ. In fact that night they told me in my face if they catch me again we'd have problems. I promply quit working for DL ramp the next morning.

Then we could go to Sporties. The head guy of the then program pulled me in his office and told me he didn't think flying was for me while questioning my mental cognitive ability to fly a plane and told me he was recommending me out of the program. Never mind that my flight instructor frequently yelled at me and call me all manner of names or that they only had three planes (C152's) and were constantly over booking flights. The program was VERY,VERY cliuqish (sp) and only the popular favored guys did well in the program.

Or when I went to Tuskegee University. My mother, grandmother and I are trying to find a super Wal-Mart in Alabama circa 1994 but couldn't. So we stop and ask a state trooper. He didn't know what a "Super Walmart" was we explain that it is a Wal-Mart with a gorcery store in it. He says he has never heard of one like that before. But he say he knew where a rather big Walmart was off the freeway a bit.

Then he leans in carefully and says but "listen here ######s don't be caught out there after sunset or else."

So trust me I KNOW about racism. But honestly I was sheltered and grew up in a very upper middle class affluent mostly white suburb and in fact was the only black family on the street. I grew up with white people definately more so then black. My mom had a level of education and employment and wanted her kids to go to the best schools. Unfortunately they weren't in minority communities. So I grew up mostly ignorant of racism just hearing stories from my grandmother and aunts and uncles never myself having experienced it myself until I went to the south.

As for stereotyping what have I said that is stereotypical of any other race in this thread...geezus people!!!

Why is it such a huge deal??? I think it's great that the guy who did it is black!! There are way too many boring white dudes (like me) in aviation anyway.

Reasons why it is important that he was black/african american:

http://www.aviationnow.com/avnow/spSec/stsblackhistory1_smith.jsp

http://www.obap.org/aboutus/aboutus-history.asp

http://www.redstone.army.mil/history/integrate/CHRON3.html

Minority is a minority... that's understood. But the numbers are severely disproportinate in field of aviation. "Statistically, less than 1 percent of pilots in the commercial aviation industry are... African American". For example... I've been flying 121 for over a year and a half... times I've had a black captain... 0.

Racial issues asside... That is why it is significant that the young man was black/african american.
Awesome job on his part! Think of how much community service he has to do in order to keep up with both helicopter and fixed wing instruction. Regardless of race... that young man is far more motivated that I ever was at his age.

Bob
Thought I'd throw this into the mix before this puppy get's flushed.

I said you look like an idiot, not that you are one.

But whatever, you've made another post consisting only of opinions, and you will continue to argue with facts, "Argue with you will be moronic".

Max, like I said, I really don't think you're racist, but I think you said some things that could make one think you are. I do feel for you though...believe it or not I've been called a ni%%er before, and at the time it really pissed me off, now I know some people are just idiots. PM me if you want to hear the story of how a white guy got called a ni%%er by a toothless idiot.:)

Gee, who would have known race would be a touchy subject?

Touchy yes but things will truly never change if we as a people can't discuss the topic open & rationally.

And no offense taken on my part at anyone who assumed I was racist. Just baffled and wanted proof. Still lookin for some too.

I hope no one thinks that I really dislike you or Mariano, but if you still don't see how you made racist/prejudiced/stereotypical statements the only thing left ofr us to do is drop it and move on to the next subject.

Now let's see, what can we talk about that won't get anyone stirred up? Abortion? (wink)

Or Cherokee_Cruiser!

Well, well, well. Guess I missed a pretty good one, here.

I'll throw in my two cents very simply by saying that I will tip my hat and throw support behind the statements made by MTSU, Max, Mariano (good job Mariano, sometimes it takes an outsider to understand the big picture) and Captain Bob. If anybody is interested they can go back and review those....

You could still add to the thread...say what you would have said if you had came during the middle of it. I'd like to know.

Wow reading that made me really angry. At those assh*le cops of course. I sure hope all cops in AZ arent like that. Max i think you need to make your way out to california. People seem to be a lot more laid back here. At least from my experience.

woohoo look what I started! Max, that stuff that happened to you is total bull$hit and I'm sorry people have to go through stuff like that. It sounds like those cops really did have it out for you, and probably because of the color of your skin. They don't call em pigs for no reason :) (sorry to the cops on here..I don't mean it.......)

So you were wronged. If it happens as it truly did then it is what it is. I just can't imagine how many times white cops make a traffic stop and it turns out being a black dude and he hears "gotta pull over the black man?" It sounds like you handled your situation(s) very well and hats off to you. Hanyway, enough playing oprah. Shes black you know?

Max, you are being racist. Racism doesn't have to be hateful or hurtful. You distinguishing him from others based on his color is racism. When you say "I'm black, so I know about racism," thats being racist. When you say "blacks cant fly because theyre poor and don't have dads" thats racist.

I think this kid is a pimp and hes gonna get more bitches than the dealers on his street. I was really diggin the story until the damn CFI mentioned "African-American."

Still, what a day and he'll remember it for his entire lifetime. Congrats to him. I'm going to go hang out with my rich, white, suburban friends now. Good day.
