105 Aircraft Damaged at DFW - 400 Flights Canceled

I was talking with the manager at kdfw corporate aviation this morning, he was telling me how it had been so long since they had damaging hail there that it was just a matter of time. I told him they'd be lucky if it wasn't today. Guess I jinxed them.

Well my family, home, and our cars are alright. We didn't win the lottery but we have some luck on our side today.

Geez. I flew over DFW last night. Gorgeous clear night to be flying then less than 24 hours later all hell breaks loose.

Sadly, I was thinking the same thing. I am sure management couldn't be happier about the convenience.
"We wanted to get rid of those S80s and E135s anyway..."

Hope all are present and that there's no accounting for to do. I'm coming into DFW tomorrow (I think? I hope?) and working the rest of the week.

I'mma throw some bows if I don't get outta here on Friday. Two and a half days is MORE than enough time to pop some minor hail dents out of the wings.

Well, that was entertaining. I'd heard of heavy WX but no tornados when I wandered down to the gym in my building. Sure enough there were people out on the patio of the club room. What where they doing? Watching the tornado just across the lake. I told them to go inside as I executed an about face and ran back up to my apartment.

People all over DFW were reporting tornados, damaging hail, etc on Facebook. The Mayor of Arlington declared a State of Disaster for the next week.

I have enjoyed incredible luck an serendipity this week. If it wasn't for the annoying slew of events, maintenance issues, and whatnot on my first turn on Monday, I'd be stuck in Mexico... and my car would have been parked outside at the airport. Lucky me.

Just commuted in. It's a nightmare in the terminals. So many stranded and pissed off pax sleeping on cots.

I can understand being pissed off, I just hope they aren't mad at the airlines themsleves. It's a freakin disaster. No one had any kind of control over this.

Somehow I made it into Love Field. Got a ride over to DFW and my poor new car is all dented and windshield is all cracked up. :( Sure wish I could leave it in a parking garage when I'm on trips.

Those pictures are insane! Surprised I hadn't seen anything about this on the news out here thus far. Sounds horrible.

This reminds me of a wx event that hit STL back in April of '01. Majorly convective storm. We watched helplessly as 3" hail fell on our neighborhood. It totalled our cars, they had to replace the entire roof, all of the siding, all of the metal awnings, all of the basement windows, the brand new air conditioner condenser, satellite dish, shed, and parts of the fence, cable lines... plus the yard looked like it had just been aerated. It is CRAZY what nature can do. Saxman, I feel for you and Im glad you and your family are safe.
