$100 hamburgers and time building

Harris Ranch, some of the best meat in the country.

Columbia Is a lot of fun but pretty far north of you.

Mexico?

I would like to second the OP's question...except I am interested in 100$ hamburgers in the Missouri/Kansas/Olahoma/Nebraska area.

Anyone:dunno:

K81 best BBQ at an airport around Kansas. Just south of Kansas City. Tends to get busy on the weekends, but its good anytime.
KHUT has a really good steakhouse. Kind of pricey, but they've got your typical steakhouse food. Real good chicken parmesan.
As much flying as I've done in and around KS/MO, you'd think I've been to a lot more than that, but alas, that's all I've got. Lots in Florida if you want to hear, but they are significantly further away.

Lamberts's Cafe down in Sikeston, MO is well worth the trip. They pick you up at the airport and you skip the line.

Down here in AL, there's an "FBO war" among the different FBOs at the different airports. All want business, especially fuel and especially from the military. So, in this little war the one who truly profits is the customer.

At one of the airports, Florala (K0J4), the FBO puts out of spread of free food from beef BBQ ribs to pulled pork to homemade chili to burritos to tacos to burgers, to all the fixings (slaw, potato salad) and dessert, all for a requested "donation". The chili is made with both ground beef as well as sliced steak pieces. Donate whatever you like, but it's free. Desserts include Mississippi mud pie, marshmallow chocolate cookies, and more.....all homemade.

Now rumor has it, a couple of the other FBOs from a couple of the other airports around here are going to up the ante......

This ought to be interesting.

Where/what do you rent/train at LGB?

Right now I fly a $90/hr wet 152 at Aero Aviation in LGB. I'm thinking about moving down the street to Long Beach Flying Club as they have $78/hr wet 152's over there. I can also rent a 172...$110/hr.

No doubt man. I looked into rental prices down the street and HOLY cow it's gotten expensive. Well, less money in the jar doesn't help either :(

But, but.....you're a rich airline pilot! Remember how much we were told we were going to make that day at orientation 20 yrs ago???

They lied to us! :D

Camarillo on Wednesdays has Tri-tip sandwhiches that rock! I also fly out of LBFC and might be open to splitting some time. Brackett has a cool restaurant. French Valley comes to mind as well. Too bad the restaurant at Carlsbad shut down. Just pull out some charts then start looking up airports on Airnav. They usually have reviews on eats located on field or nearby.

I've been flying out of California Flight Center (expensive I know) but how do you guys like the Flying Club? I've heard some maintenance horror stories from a few friends over there..
