Official PUBNAT2 Referral List

WHAT? why isn't next week happening? i was SO looking forward to this...:mad:

Not happening next week because they haven't invited anyone to attend yet. I'm all for things happening quickly, but I'd like to have more than 1 day's notice to attend the PEPC.

Enroute panels (supposedly) are meeting this week. Hopefully they'll send enroute and terminate candidates PEPC invites in the next couple of weeks... by mid-October? Then PEPC is in November. That gives a little time to make arrangements to attend the PEPC.

Hopefully they don't terminate any candidates...this would be a lot more risky process than I thought it was

On Oct. 1st, I have to tell my landlady whether I'm renewing the lease for another year. I was hoping to have figured out if I was going to get a PEPC invite by now. With the feet dragging, I'm a little unsure what to do.

Right now I'm assuming a late October/early November PEPC with another 3-4 months for the background checks. Does this sound right? Are we assuming basics classes in OKC in mid to late February?

I've been reading the old threads, but they're not too much help. Can someone let me know if I have it wrong?

Tell your landlady your situation and tell her to let you pay month to month. If she says so, tell her the economy is looking pretty grim and what are her chances of getting the place rented after you leave...and see how that goes over. LOL! :p

Out of curiosity, where did we get the information that AT-SAT scores would be broken down beyond the 3 initial categories (Fail, Qualified, Well Qualified)? Everything I read from the FAA indicated that they'd only be looking at scores on a Qualified and Well Qualified basis (I recall this information being direct from the FAA and it cited some sources about the inefficiency of ranking people based on their hard number scores). Everyone's saying now that people with a 95% are better off than people with a 90%. Though it makes sense under the old ranking system, I was under the impression that they're not doing it that way anymore.

As far as i know, it seems as though they work their way down through the scores. i may be wrong, but i believe they will look at the higher scored application before the lower scores. the application should play some role into where you fall in the process. somebody correct me if i am wrong, but this is what i have heard.

I guess people are under the assumption that scores matter when it comes to getting on the referral list. They may not. However, people were not selected for the pub 1 referral list in some states with an average but not excellent well qualified score and people with 100's were picked up. I would be willing to bet that these scores play a part. I am probably wrong.

Who knows. I got a 100 on the ATSAT and was 1 semester away from completing CTI school and I didn't get picked up for PUBNAT1. Not that I care now because I have my application in through CTI, but then I failed to understand why I was not chosen because I thought that I was well qualified for the job at the time.

What did you pick for your geo. preferences and did you pick terminal, enroute or both?

Stories like that scare me :(

I thought I'd add my experience to the thread. I'm a February applicant that also applied to the May announcement. Like many of you guys and gals, I was passed up for that opening after an 84% (barely missed the well qualified) on the ATSAT back in March. My Febrary geo preferences were for Southern California only (notice my screen name). I decided to be a little more flexible this time around and selected both CA and Nevada - Terminal and Enroute, though I specified High Desert TRACON as my only enroute preference.

I have two friends who are current controllers - one that is a 28 year vet at a level 9 terminal here in SoCal, and another a high level supervisor at a very busy terminal in the LA area. Both have gone to bat for me to get any info they could for me regarding this opening. One was kind enough to write me a letter of recommendation. Even with both of those people, who are veteran controllers (and supervisors) in the FAA working on my behalf, nothing came of their efforts in terms of finding out anything new. I'm not even certain that letter will land in the right place, if anywhere at all. As one of those guys put it, the whole FAA hiring process for controllers is a mystery to even vets of the FAA. Only a small contingent of folks in the top echelon know what is going on, and the only way for us to find out about the process is to wait.. wait.. and wait some more, until finally we are selected for an interview.

I've been more in tune with what has been going on with the FAA (via this website!) than either of my friends have. I'm hopefull that we'll know in less than a week.

I just found I'm a PUBNAT2 and I passed my ATSAT with a decent score. I've been waiting and waiting to hear anything, and nothing. I was in touch with the FAA Jobs division and was told...

"
Currently we have an En Route panel convening this week to make selections. If you were selected by either the Terminal or En Route panels, you will receive an e-mail. Because of the amount of computer work that must be complete by our processing office, it can take up to 60 days for you to be contacted if you were selected. "

So, now I am waiting patiently...again. I know that's part of the deal, but since I scored in the well-qualified section, I am curious- does anyone know if LAS had anyone picked up? I think my geo. pref. has something to do with it?

I've been waiting for six months, I feel a bit lost now. If I don't get selected, do I need to re-apply for the November OTS opening? Any advise would be AWESOME.:panic:

TRACONs are terminal ;)

I'm hopeful too that we'll hear sometime next week... keeping my fingers crossed and trying to avoid this --> :banghead:

Chichi - Thanks for the clarification. I dont know why that didnt occur to me. The specific facility was Edwards AFB / High Desert Tracon ("Joshua Approach").

So enroute is only high altitude / center then?

All of us PUBNAT2ers have been waiting just as long :banghead:

Enroute panels are this week... terminal panels were back at the beginning of the month. Hopefully we'll hear something next week... maybe I'm just trying to keep myself sane with that thought.

I don't remember seeing anyone on here from PUBNAT1 who was picked up for LAS, but that obviously doesn't mean no one was. If you're not selected, you have to reapply to be considered again, so keep applying to any announcements that open, although I'm hoping none of us will need them :panic:

Not a problem... and you're correct--

enroute = center
terminal = TRACON, tower, up/down
