Announcement Ending 05/02

Someone from earlier posted a score in the 70s and got picked up for West Virginia. I've been thinking about doing the same thing and putting Mississippi just in case but don't want to get it if my first choice is available.

I felt in the 80% range when I left the test yesterday. I bombed the word analogies, which worried me until today. Took my test on July 14 in Dania Beach, Florida - Got results less than 24 hours later - 96.3 - Well Qualified - Yippee!!!

I think you should definitely try putting your first choice down! Who knows! Maybe your first choice will be somewhere nobody wants to be.:D

I am definately putting GA down, but I haven't decided my next choice. Maybe SC,NC,KY,TN,or AL. I would probably choose AL, but am afraid that there aren't that many slots, and i haven't read where anyone has been selected for AL yet.

Maybe no one wants to go to AL :)

Sounds like someone is slacking...

I talked with some one in the Careers Division today and was asking about my test score (7/10 Holtsville) because I saw some of you lucky peeps getting a 24hr turn around. The Lady sounded "half surprised" that some had their scores which made me think that your test score is completely at the mercy of the person who gets it...:panic: does that sound like it makes sense of these random turn around times????

It seems like each day is handled by the same person/people... I say this because we 7/14 people all seem to have our scores, even though we tested at different locations. You 7/10 people are all still waiting (that I'm seeing)... it really may just be what you said... you're at the mercy of the person for that day.

Maybe there was a computer glitch and all of the test data for 7/10 has been lost. :(

I think that brings it together and makes a lot of sense. I guess us 7/10 peeps got the short end of the patience stick....:banghead:

Thats ok, it puts hair on your chest:crazy:

I'm not sure how much more waiting I can handle....:panic::crazy:

Here is some information that i pulled from this site http://testimony.ost.dot.gov/test/krakowski2.htm that may be interesting.

The most recent data shows that average training time to achieve CPC status is 1.4 years for terminal controllers, and 2.6 years for en route controllers. We have achieved this reduction, not by cutting training time or quality, but by improving the training and scheduling processes, and by the increased use of training technologies such as simulators.
Our largest applicant source is our public sector announcements, which are published monthly. The last two such announcements combined yielded 2,500 qualified candidates.

Not as many people as i thought!

That actually is a little encouraging...as long as it is true. I was assuming if I got the center I wanted I was looking at 3-4 years of the training pay. 2 1/2 years is definately a step in the right direction. Also, like you I thought there were probably a lot more than 2500 candidates from 2 announcements. I thought there was probably 5-6k for each announcement...but that was purely a WAG:nana2:.

Can someone clarify how we are assigned our work facility? From what I'm reading, we're placed on a referral list based (hopefully) on our geographical preferences. Those preferences are only specific to a certain state though, right? So if I chose Texas as my preference and got it, they could place me with any facility in Texas without my input?

You will have two preferences (though you can choose one if you wish)... so let's say you choose TX. It seems that they'll try to put you somewhere in TX (anywhere they want... you can put facilities or areas in a comment box, but I don't know how much they'll take that into consideration)... but remember you're applying for a nationwide announcement, so they can also send you to any other state or Guam, USVI, etc.

DING DING DING... We have a winner!

Now, keep in mind for larger states they do ask you for specific counties. I put on mine... TX - Dallas County; Tarrant County and I got ZFW.

yeah, pretty much... but you can't forget that they can still place you in a state that was no where near being on your preferences.

I remember one guy wanting, I think, Colorado and Idaho, and ended up getting Guam.... So they looked at him and saw her wanted cold and mountains, and put him in a HOT flat Island...... I wonder who he pissed off......
