They will probably end up growing with the latest United RFP.
I bet they won't.

Unfortunately, I'd imagine if TSA struck uncle Hulie would take the message and start gradually siphoning off 50 seaters to GoJet. (interesting they have 50 seat rates in their contract)
*If* they recall the furlough pilots for those who decide to come back they will have a furlough + a strike (<--maybe) in their first airline year.anic::rawk:  :bandit:
It seems like management is pushing it!
Comair is hiring also.I am also sorry about your potential furlough.
There are plenty of resources / posts in regard with Gojet. You can read it yourself. Good luck on your decision.
People in the know, help us furloughees figure out what to do with ourselves.
Personally, I'm not going to burn any bridges with Trans States. However, will I be back? Probably not. To be honest, driving across the entire country to go back to a job paying $20,000 a year just doesn't sound amusing to me. The only way I would do it is if I was (knock on wood) still without a job when/if they recalled me.
My goal, for now, is to go overseas. Everything about this industry and country is fairly messed up right now and I'm not sure I want to stick around to see it get any worse. I may come back in a few years when the industry/country rights itself, but for the time being, I just can't see myself sticking around here much longer. Frankly, a larger part of the equation is that I can't afford to stay here. I need to start paying my student loan sometime soon, and I'm not all that interested in living behind Burger King and taking showers at the YMCA just so I can make less than the janitor at said Burger King.
So, what to do? Flying cargo or flight instructing in another country seems like a nice (deccent?) change of pace to me and a chance to get out and do something to build more experience and see some new things. I realize it's not for everyone and that it may turn out to be a horrible idea, but I really have nothing to lose at this point.
We'll see what happens...
I've definitely been considering the leaving the country option. I was thinking I could just collect my unemployment and go on vacation for a couple months. Were you in the Feb class?
If I still had travel benefits after the 1st, I'd be lounging around in Europe.
Anyway, yeah, I was in the February class.
Also, I've read plenty of posts about the Gojet and TSA situation and I've flown with plenty of captains here at TSA that have been very willing to give me the whole scoop on everything. In my mind, it's over and done and both sides could have played it better. The only thing I'm really worried about is going to Gojet and having a very hard time getting hired somewhere in the future.
.
By the way another FEB survivor here.:rawk:
With all the February guys lurkin' around, we should create our own airline with equipment from Mesa/Freedom. Any time Trans States cancels a flight out of IAD, we'll just happen to be running a flight that day to that city.
...
We'd probably break even after three days.
