the Air Traffic Control Career Prep book is great (make sure you download the update...send me a message if you need the link).....but if anyone wants some extra help with the math section i also got something that explains the way you do ATC math about 100X better than the book, and it has TONS of example questions. if you would like it just send me a message with your email and ill shoot it out to you.(and i promise it will definately help....there was a single math question i didnt know. i answered every math question with 100% confidence that it was right)

also, if you have any questions about the test let me know...i took it just a little over 2 months ago, and i should be able to remember some stuff.

pm sent.

Well it looks like They have sent out Seattle, New York, Chicago, Houston, and Los Angeles. i think that leaves Daytona beach, Atlanta, Miami, Oakland, Oklahoma city, and Fort Worth. Looks like we are about half way.

I will open myself up too so bippotl doesn't get an overload of pm's.if you have any ?'s would be glad to help out just pm...

Greetings --

I also applied OTS for this announcement.. however I have the unique situation of being an existing FAA employee at a level 12 ATCT as a tech ops person. Fortunately for me, I work down the hall from the Air Traffic Manager and have had several opportunities to get first hand knowledge of air traffic operation prior to being a part of the field.

I realize that one facility is by no means the FAA at large, but if anyone has any questions that I might could help with, please drop me a line.

I've been lurking on this forum for a while, and all I can say is my management staff here shares ATLTRACON's sentiment that a level 12 facility might not be the best choice for a brand new applicant. We have had CTI applicants with no prior experience be successful here, but I don't think we've had an OTS applicant go through yet. (not 100%) Obviously I wanted to come here as my first position, but now I'm beginning to rethink that choice, as the volume of traffic we receive here is absolutely amazing sometimes. I'm thinking about trying to go somewhere small, learn the ropes, get certified, and then try to transfer back.

I can say for sure that the FAA is absolutely swamped with inquiries about these positions, as the ATC hiring is probably one of the biggest priorities going on right now (besides the reauthorization), so I wouldn't recommend calling and being nasty to any of the HR/personnel people in careers. All it takes is harsh word to the wrong person at the wrong time to ensure your train permanently comes off the tracks. By all means call, but remember that there are literally thousands of applicants for every announcement, and you're a needle in the haystack.

My name was sent to the contractor too for a test date, but I'm also waiting to hear from them. I'll likely be on the Atlanta list, at least I hope so.

I'm very glad to be a part of this board. Good luck to everyone.

I'm assuming that I will be on the ATL testing list as well, as I do live in Lexington, Ky. I know that they are one of the groups that has net been selected yet, but I was wondering if anyone had heard anything in when the ATL group would be selected?

I applied for the 05/02 opening and received my email notification yesterday!!! Called up Robinson today and I will be taking the AT-SAT on July 16th in holtsville, I guess i am lucky considering it's right down the road from my house pretty much! I have heard of people taking 5 or 6 hour drives each way:drool: Can anyone refer some good studying material besides the ATC prep test book w/ CD. I just want to study as much as possible for a shot at this job . I know it is only a shot for a shot but hey it's better than not being acknowledged at all.

I also got the email yesterday to take the test in Long Island. Having to drive in from NJ... but I'm going to stay at the hotel the night before... I don't want to deal with manhattan traffic and the LIE in the morning before the test.

I saw that email on my blackberry and couldn't call fast enough... LOL! I just ordered the green book/cd want to start studying asap (no pun intended). :)

I'm in the same position (driving from NJ)... I scheduled the test for a Monday so I can drive over on Sunday to avoid weekday traffic...

I will also be testing in ATL which is actually going to be in Peachtree City, and i contacted Robinson Aviation, and was told that our names have been sent over from the FAA, but it might be a few days before the emails get sent out:rolleyes:.

If anyone is considering coming the day before and wants to stay at a hotel then you should book a room at the hotel the test is being held at. It is the radisson hotel on the corner of the L I E service road east and North Ocean Avenue. See you guys there.

hi all,

just pokin' my head in to say I'll be at the Chicago (Isle), IL testing on Tuesday 7/1... all you over-anxious a** holes took all the good dates! Haha :panic: Anyone else FLYING to their test site? I'm In Columbus, OH so it's a solid 5-6 hr drive to Chicago and good ole' SWA offers dirtcheap airfare nonstop to Midway. I just booked it RT for about $100 total. My worst nightmare is that something is gonna go haywire with the airline schedule or weather delays or something and I'll be stuck driving 100mph on the highway to make it in time for the test!

Just wanted to extend a good luck to all on step 2 of what seems to be forecasted as a 1,718 step process... God Speed, John Glenn.

Clear skies and tailwinds...

Hey everyone. just a new one logging on. applied for the announcement closing on 5/02 now awaiting the contact to schedule the AT-SAT. Has anyone received a call to schedule this or only emails? and is it an email in ASAP or personal. thanks!

It seems that they're just under halfway through emailing us to schedule the test. As far as I know, we have all been contacted for this through personal emails, no phone calls or anything else that I'm aware of.

hey welcome, what city would you be taking the test in?

Im not sure where I will be taking the test in. Hopefully California somewhere.. with the tickets for travel from honolulu to the the mainland it is ridiculous! But anywhere would be great. I am just super excited that I got pass pre-screening because if I make it I would probably be the youngest controller there is. :rawk:
