American Eagle question.....

Actually, to correct you if I may sir:

The seat lock is still one year; however, the company has been allowing SAAB FOs the option to be released from the seat lock early because they needed FOs on the jets badly. I do not think they are doing this at this time though.

As for aircraft transitions, as an FO you may only move from Prop to Jet. This means a SAAB FO can not go to ATR FO. A EMJ FO can not go to CRJ FO. So if you bid the EMJ as a new hire... THAT IS IT UNTIL YOU MAKE CAPTAIN! (you can still transfer bases as much as you like. No limit)

Once you are on the captain side you can change airframes in this order only (you can move or jump up but you can never go back down):

SAAB-->ATR-->EMJ-->CRJ (has to do with the payscales).

Hope this helps clear up the muddy water a bit.
Thanks for the clarification! Greatly appreciated! :bandit:

I do think, however, that a EMJ FO can bid over to the CRJ. I'll have to check on that and get back to ya'll. I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time....won't be the last. :D

Anybody think that going for the Saab as your first a/c in a 121 environment is an easier transition from a light twin vs. going right for a EMB jet?

I've heard QOL is better right off the bat in the Saab outta DFW but I mean strictly in terms of "best transition"....

I've got an interview with Eagle in late April and I'm sitting @ 595/52 with all my twin time being in a Duchess.

Thanks

This is very valuable info. I greatly appreciate it!

Hi everyone, Just got an interview offer from Eagle which is my second choice airline because of base locations.

How would ORD be to commute from CLE or CAK? How long could I expect to be reserve? Schedules after reserve?

Thanks

When's your interview? I'm going April 21st

I just walked in from my first sim ERJ ride (it's 0300). I pretty much got my butt handed to me for 2 hours. Then I got to watch my sim partner recieve the same beat down. I hope tomorrow is a little better.
Ah well, now to the books until about 0500.:panic:
If your coming to Eagle, the training is top notch, the instructors are even better, but please take the studying SERIOUSLY! You will benefit from it, no seriously you will!

Keep at it, man. First sim periods are always a bit steep on the curve. By the end of week two you'll be all over it.

See ya on the line!

Why on earth do they make you do the sim at that ungodly hour?

When I was at Piedmont we had to do CPT (cockpit procedures training). This is basically where you learn and practice your flows before going into the sim. This CPT is done in actual Dash-8's that are at out stations parked for overnights. The last flights of the day usually arrive at 2300. Then you, your sim partner and your CPT instructor taxi the plane around in the dark practicing emergency flows for 3 hours.

I was lucky though. I got to use a plane in SBY that was due for MX so we had normal hours, 1300-1630. Then I lucked out and got a 0800-1200 sim slot.

I don't want to get to far ahead of myself here as I'm only 1/2 through my Instrument rating. But what is the likelyhood of getting on with Eagle in 4-5 months? I would consider them if holding a line soon is a possibility. Also does anyone commute from DEN? I was thinking ORD and LAX would be the easiest to get to from here.

Don't know. Things change. Mins could stay the same, or could go up. Doubtful they'll go up though..... at least for the time being.

Think Saab.

DEN, I'm not sure of (although with an ariline as large as we are, chances are pretty good at least one person does). I do know a guy that commutes out of COS.

Depends on loads, number of flights available, time of year, weather, seniority on the standby list.......the stars, moons & planets aligning... :D

Best of luck! Let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you with your career at Eagle!

Stan

Hard to say.... no sense in worrying over things you cannot control, just stay at it!
