Yep, that's definitely one for the screensaver collection.

I had to remind myself you're a Mac user. I was all

"Control Command- hey.. what?"

:D

Yeah, don't you just hate us? :)

Can you pay to NOT be patronized by the FAs? They're selling sunglasses, a crochet kit, and beef jerky... what the heck?

if they don't, us moderators will have to start flipping out cards and we really don't *want* to do that.

*notice the nice BIG hint* :D

To the admin,

Thanks,

This should get intersting, real fast. Yes I am a real live Skybus pilot. Captain, if you can believe it. I just came across this place on the web, and felt I had to reply against some of the things said here. Its too easy to howl against some unknown person. The people that fly for Skybus are some of the best people I have ever had the privilege to meet.

So: fire away.

So: fire away.

Can you open another thread (to keep it seperate) and tell us about your career and how you started to how you are now at Skybus (and yes, I would really like to hear this). Also to let you know, I am NOT a 121 or 135 pilot, just a Part 91 SEL pilot.

Also, welcome to JC!

If you're up for it, here are some questions.

How do you feel about being told, go to Costco and buy some water for us? Oh, and do it on your own time and we won't pay you for this?

How do you feel about giving up your day off to do something which is nowhere near the job you were hired to do?

And if the rumors are true, then how do you feel about being a babysitter for some of your more immature crewmembers? Again, you're being asked to do this for no pay when you're supposed to be off the clock.

Does this bother you?

One more I would like to add tonyw...

How does it make you feel not getting a second year pay increase?

O.K,

In no real order, I feel:

1) The WATER thing! It just seemed a slap in the face. The pilots and F/A's are giving 100% of their lives for this place. We do long days to the west coast, and then deadhead back. Having some water just seemed natural. Then one day: its too expensive? The whole place went nuts. A captain was called in for a carpet dance for a delay of 5 min to get some water. After that, EVERY captain was going to delay for 5 min, and guess what? We have water back. Some great people are getting the stuff for us because of the expense to pay someone to get it. I thank those guys every day. It will change soon, after our vote. For now, it is what it is.

2) Pay. O.K., I and others knew that when we started. Did we know the work rules? NO. They did not invent them until after we were on the line. Also, profit sharing, and stock options are the big players here. So I can't complain too much. It's the pay now, or the big pay-off later question. Only time can tell. The big problem is the First Officers. All of them have only a limited amount of time they can stay at 30K/year. After that, they have to eat, make car payments, and live.

3) How did I come to Skybus? I had been trying for YEARS to get into 121 flying. DC-3 night cargo, Lear (35,55), Challenger 601 and 604 flying. I worked for Flight Options for 7 years, and one day Skybus called. After 16 days a month on the road for seven years I was done. I live down the road from Columbus, can drive to work, and only have 2 to 3 over-nights per month. How could I not take it if offered, and I make it thru the training? Hell, I did not even want to be captain this fast. It just happened. My dad told me that you either step up to the challenge, or move aside for the next guy. No regrets.

Dang. I never thought I'd see a Skybus pilot post here. Welcome to JC. Hopefully, the mods will take care of you. And, hopefully, you have thick skin. What do you think the odds are on your union vote?
